NPD numbers are over a 5 week period for this month, I think...

That makes sense, then.

Also sega was overtracking this? They were happy...

Sega has shareholders to placate, much like any other major software publisher. As most should recall, they stated they were "happy" with sales of Mad World as well.

And no, the game was not made on a budget of a nickel and milk bottle pog as some would have you believe either.

Just keep waiting as this is an ongoing story here. But as of right now, the preliminary data seems to support what many have already acknowledged in regards to the Wii market. There just isn't a huge demand among the vast majority of Wii owners for games like the Conduit.

Unless fans of the game want to suddenly change their tune and go on record as saying there are fundamental problems with the game that are keeping Wii players starving for core FPS shooters from buying it, the numbers would seem to speak for themselves.

And developing larger budget games for a fractional niche market doesn't make particularly great financial sense, so this could put a question mark for developers interested in targeting the same core niche with a larger effort, higher budget project.

While Conduit still stands good odds of breaking even if not grinding out a profit, it's far from the coup that core gamers on the Wii were expecting/hoping for.

Why is everyone calling The Conduit a Bomb. Really, its only been out for 9 days and it was counted for those days. Stop saying that it flopped, lets wait for a month to see how it has done. Some of you are really beating it up for only 9 days of sales. That $hit needs to stop.

Sounds difficult to believe. I'd have to wait for a more reliable source. No disrespect to this poster, but it just seems like a strangely low number.

Quoted for when 72k is accepted as the correct Conduit sales number and the "that's not so bad, it's about what I expected" spinning begins...

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

If these numbers are right, VGChartz overtracked The Conduit by about 89%. Not 200% like some people here say, but still. Overall sales should be around 90k for The Conduit now, instead of 155k.

It does not mean The Conduit bombed yet. But it does mean that VGChartz has a big problem with tracking software. They constantly overtrack hyped Wii games and undertrack 360 games. This may be a coincidence or not.

It's no coincidence that this site has such a clear pro-Wiii and anti-360 bias.

Yeah because no game on Wii ever bombed, no matter if it got Meh reviews or weak start. They got legs... I mean, the fact that this logic could be used to call Haze a success( it will reach 1mln till the end of the year, over two years since release) could tell us something, no?

Let's face it, Wii got bombs, despite it's big userbase. Violent, male targeted games don't sell well on Wii, cause that's not why people got a Wii for. I'm not afraid of calling Motorstorm:PR a bomb, sales wise, despite being an excellent and fun game, cause after 8 months of it's release it only got 600-700k units, acording to VGC. It may sell a million? Yes, but it will take too long.

Conduit may get to a million? Yes, but it will take so long that Sega will think twice before releasing such a game in Wii again.

The Nintendo Channel had it at about 6,973 submissions on July 6 which was presumably through the July 4 week. 10% of the users submitting what they think of the game in two weeks seems a bit high to me but it isn't an absurd figure either given that the Nintendo Channel base is fairly robust.

Really, so on one side we have the official NPD sales numbers, and on the other side... submissions to The Nintendo Channel?  Really?

Right, the numbers were leaked from a twitter post that has since been taken down. The poster has given reliable NPD data in the past, but to call it official NPD data is a huge stretch.
