Forums - Sales Discussion - Conduit June sales (NPD - 2 weeks) - 71,913

Too bad SA isn't NA. Also VGC says the rest is anywhere from 8% to 12% of US sales with 12% being games like Fifa and Pro Evo.

Normal PS3/360 titles are supposed to cost $5,000,000 to $10,000,000 to make with top titles costing $20,000,000 to $30,000,000.

Supposedly after all the costs are factored in to consideration, the game maker gets $31 for a PS3 title, while a game maker gets $38 for a 360 title.

Most Wii games are supposed to cost $2,000,000 to $5,000,000 to make by comparison. PSP is probably $1,500,000 to $3,500,000, DS is maybe $800,000 to $2,000,000.

Essentially you can be profitable at the following thresholds with an average game, but it varies alot:

DS - 100k

PSP - 125k

Wii - 165k

360 - 200k

PS3 - 242k

And yet I still can't get people to agree that Valkyria Chronicles made money for Sega.  Sigh.

Thank you for finding it for me <3

I think we all know that those can't possibily be right. More games lose money than make money.

I sense insecurity

Thats very interesting because what you just said doesnt make much sense with what I said, unless you think I feel that I am insecure about how smart you may be.

those are pretty bad sales if you ask me, let's see what Sega's response is.

Sega already responded with "We are more than happy with the sales of THE CONDUIT"

they said the same about house of dead and madworld too

If that is the case, this game didn't bomb at all no matter how much it sold. Bombing isn't the decision of random people on an internet forum. It is the decision of the publisher, and in this case both the publisher and developer. If sega is happy, unless they are lying to us about that, the game did NOT bomb. And seeing that they are continuing to publish Wii games after those other 'bombs' that everybody is mentioning from them, then their words about being happy seem to be valid and genuine. So the way I look at it, if the people getting money from this game are happy, then their game didn't bomb. That means much more than some person judging the sales data on an internet for recreation during their free time imo. Also like I said earlier wait and see, before judging. This game could turn out more successful than you think. That doesn't mean it will turn out successful like some others hope, but it does have a good chance.

Edit: Also this pretty much confirms that they are on track, or already have made a profit. Otherwise, why else would they say they are happy.

^ LOL!

what do you expect them to say?

"The Conduit sales suck and are a huge dissapointment... From now on we'll be more careful with the Wii."

Yeah, think of the backlash there

No, but I've seen many developers say that they are "slightly dissapointed", or it was "below expectations". Not only that, don't you think they would stop publishing wii games if they were losing money on all of these "bombs"? Until proven that their words are not truthful, then I will take them as genuine. Especially considering they have no reason NOT to  tell the truth. Btw they are the only ones who know the exact and official numbers, so they already have more insight than we do.
