Forums - Gaming Discussion - What's your opinion on each Halo game?

Okay, so we have our threads where we ask: "whats so good about gaylo!?" or "why does everyone hate halo?" How about we all just put our opinions on each Halo game in one thread.

So all in all; What is your opinion on each Halo game?

Around the Network

Here is my opinion on each game.

Halo Combat Evolved:

The best in the series by far for having one of the best single-player first-person shooter experiances ever and argubly the best console FPS ever created. It has a great story {By FPS standards}, great art style, tight controls, very well balance weapons {Pistol is very overpowered though}, superb A.I., incredibly well implemented co-op, ELITES, awesome vehicles, open outdoor enviroments, amazing multiplayer, some of the best FPS combat around, and over excellent gameplay. Easily one of the best first-person shooters ever created and it is truly a classic. I give it a 5 Stars.

Halo 2:

Its good, but not as good as the original in almost everyway. The single-player is fine wasn't very thrilling to play because it was disjointed and the outdoor enviroments weren't as big plus the story started off well but then became muddy and then comes the infamously bad cliff hangar. The online multiplayer however was awesome, it kept me playing over and over again. Unfortunely most of the weapons were very unbalanced and there were HUGE hitboxes making it easy to get shots. However, I did really like The Arbiter character. Overall: its a nice sequel but not worthy of the original classic so I give it 4 stars.

Halo 3:

Better than the 2nd and almost as good as the original. The campaign first level was dull but it ramped up to high awesomness until Cortana while the last level was very good but the campaign was way too short. Sure there was a good amount of replay value with four player online co-op {Which is awesome}, skulls, and multiple difficulty levels but we still finish the fight way too fast. The story wrapped everything nicely but it could've been a bit more indepth and more emotional instead of this macho war story, its confusing to those who aren't into the Halo mythos. The enemy A.I. is excellent but your team mate A.I. is awful especially when they're driving for you. The multiplayer is heavily refined and it is better balanced than the 2nd game, its one of the most addicting MP experiances around and it is awesome. Theatre and Forge are great additions that surprisingly effect the multiplayer in a lot of ways. Overall the game was overhyped but it is still a very good game and the Scarab battles.....man... They are EPIC! I give it 4 and a half stars.

Halo Wars:

Its a good attempt of making a console RTS and it succeeds well. Campaign is short but fun and the multiplayer is nice along with the co-op. The game is unforuntely a bit too shallow, not dumb down shallow but just too simple. It does capture the Halo atmosphere very well and the story is decent with amazing cinematics. Its not worth buying but it is a very good rental. 3 and a half stars.

Halo 1 - best halo single player experience. Sucks you in. Would be perfect if it wasnt for the tedious repetitive middle levels. Multiplayer is great but lack of online support (connect24 doesnt count) huts it. This is what established halo as one of the best games ever created and rightfully so. 4.5/5

Halo 2 - single player campaign was interesting but felt tedious a lot of the time. Having new abilities like dual wielding and the sword weapon was cool. Multiplayer kicked it up a notch with online support and established the franchase as a major seller in the industry. 4.2/5

Halo 3 - Single player is least tedious and most fun out of all 3 games. Its probably least as epic though with worst story... The SP can be sumarized as - you get a gun, you fire 1000s of times, you kill bunch of stuff, stuff happens, you drive warthog to finish line. Not groundbreaking but its very fun especially if playing with 4 friends. Multiplayer is next to perfect, more balanced than Halo 2, constantly updated, forge, videos...best game this gen. 4.8/5

Halo Wars - a change for the series but keeps its heart. This is a 100% halo game. Single player is great if not a little too easy, multiplayer is fun and not too hard. For a console RTS this game is best of class. 4/5

The campaign in Halo 2 feels tedious because some levels dragged on more than Halo CE's indoor levels, the plasma sword is cool but it is very overpowered and its lunging has a farther range than the shotgun.

I'm glad I didn't have to write all of this first, but I completely agree.

1-the actual "alien shooter" imo; only one that made me jump out my seat several times (library -_-). loved vehicles. played this a HELLA LOT during comp sci class in high school. haha, good times.
2-never played, watched campaign
3-only played with my friends. watched campaign. just from those impressions, id say its a fine fps, but i prefer COD4

I agree that part 2 is the weakest.

I remember when the flood come in for the first time in part 1...that was some intense stuff. Neither 2 or 3 have moments like that... so SP definetly goes to part 1. MP I find to be very barebones though...

If you look at the halo trilogy, it follows the star wars movie trilogy to a T when it comes to story.

1st one - completely classic, blows everyones minds, leaves a great impression

2nd one - darker, has a "to be continued ending", major character is captured

3rd one - kinds tries to do part 1 again and thread familiar ground

Halo 1 9.7/10 Second to none campaign.

Halo 2 9.2/10 Great campaign, new weapons (duel weapons ect), online.

Halo 3 9.4/10 4 Player campaign online, amazing multiplayer, forge, numerous updates, fantastic.

3rd One was more of a refinement of the series instead of a different game, it did take away Halo CE's repetitive indoor enviroments.
