Sony will be around next gen without a doubt, but I think they have to cut the price, unless they want to kiss second place goodbye forever. Who knows, they might still make a profit on a $299 Slim (but it has to be $299)

if a slim comes out, then sony won this holiday.

nah they need GT5 and price cut along with it then it's pretty safe to say that.

sony have too many huge games one after the other, i would expect a price cut until later.

yes, but their competition has a lineup that's just as good. so I don't see that factoring inot the equaion that much, sufice to say, Sony needs to take it's losses if they want a chance to be profitable next gen. 

Together those games will sell a lifetime total of 20+ million units. Which games match these, exactly?

Wii Fit + -> NSMB -> Galaxy 2 -> Metroid Other M

Well it depends how much production of Slim PS3 costs them (and how much the development of it cost overall) price-cut is still a risky business for Sony since they havent made profit for so long. If Slim can slightly improve PS3's performance then i think they will be reluctant to cut the price hasty.

Also GT 5 is key for Sony in Europe and America , Uncharted 2 looks good but it wont move any hardware (if KZ2 struggled, then uncharted will as well) so maybe PS3 slim + GT5 can do some wonders for them, and make some nice money for the company.

Well think about New Super Mario Bros Wii this game will outsell any PS3 game this generation,and it could be as succesful as Mario Kart.
