looks like blu-ray is here to stay.

Interesting link which also say digital distribution is up 21% to $968 millions...

Does that mean PSP GO has a good chance at being successful?

"including $196 million for electronic sellthrough. " what exactly is electronic sellthrough?

Article uses terms Im not familiar with...

So BR is about 5% and DD 10% of the packaged movie sales, meaning DVD + others is ~85%

Maybe I should start getting Blu-Rays, looks like Sony could start profiting heavily of Blu-Ray in the not to distant future

I've been saying for a while that Blu-Ray would only significantly take over DVD when it was close in price to DVD (both players and discs), and that prediction looks to be correct.

Not surprising since most people don't really see a big advantage to Blu-Ray. When it "wins" it will be because people will say "why not get Blu-Ray, it costs almost the same...".

I have like no BR movies, and the only one I will ever get will be LOTR. Anything else can go jump off the bridge, digi distribution FTW.

Tease.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention (the obvious) that by the time Blu-Ray takes over DVD it's quite likely the market for optical discs will be significantly smaller due to the uptake of digital distribution.

The time to make lots of money from Blu-Ray is not very long.

I have zero interest in buying Blu Ray movies as they are priced currently.

I have a PS3 so i could buy Blurays, i decide not to as they need to be priced more competitivly.
