Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Are Square-Enix going to show Wii stronger support?

I´m thinking that Square-Enix will support Wii stronger in the future with some big softwaretitles. Maybe Kingdom Hearts 3 or another big title? Most likely a Dragon Quest remake, Dragon Quest VII maybe since that one still hasn´t had a remake and a Wii version could improve on the PS1 original?

My reason for being so optimistic about S-E and Wii is that they have choosen to put their very biggest franchise on Wii (Dragon Quest) and so far their support for the platform has been very small. Shouldn´t S-E want to support the platform they have chosen to put a main Dragon Quest on with bigger titles? I know that they have done this with every other platform that has had major Dragon Quest titles, NES, SNES, PS1, PS2 and NDS have all had Dragon Quest remakes, Final Fantasy titles, Kingdom Hearts, Chrono Trigger and so on. At the very least we should expect a Dragon Quest remake and perhaps Dragon Quest Swords 2 (not so big but worth mentioning) on Wii.

What do you think, will Square-Enix announce some major titles on Wii helping push hardware for the console in the wait for Dragon Quest X?

DQX you don't get stronger than DQX, FF hasn't being with nintendo for over 12 years now, the mana series has died, kingdom heart is a posibility, the chrono franchise is perhaps trying to make a comback with the remake.

I have no idea what the hell SE is thinking when it comes to their negligible Wii support. Why make cheap to develop games for a system with a massive Japanese install base when you can make expensive to develop games for a pitifully small xbox userbase... and then port it to a slightly less pitiful PS3 userbase...

DS and PSP successes have shown that wildly different platforms can have the same kind of success. All you need is a decent sized userbase..

Yes I agree, it doesn´t get any bigger than a main Dragon Quest title but that´s exactly my point, Square-Enix has always supported the other platforms which they have choosen to put Dragon Quest on with other major software. Shouldn´t they want to help pushing Wii hardware as much as they can now that they have choosen to put a Dragon Quest on it? It doesn´t make any sense to me. Perhaps they are counting on Nintendo themselves pushing Wii hardware. I´m thinking they should want to help support Wii as much as they can now that they have commited themselves with their biggest franchise on that platform.

SE will support the Wii, however the flow of games will be much less than PS3/Xbox360 for quite a while

Not supporting Wii would be stupid and unforgivable.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I would guess that Square/Enix will focus on Wii after FF13. There are certainly games in development. DQX is their flagship title. There will probably be Kingdom Hearts 3 as well, it makes perfect sense for the Wii to get a Disney/Square game.

Dragon Quest may be the biggest in Japan, but it certainly isn't the flagship title.

Well a lot of their focus is on FF XIII right now. Once they finish that then maybe we'll hear about new stuff.

DQ X, FFCC:TCB, and FF IV: The After Years is good for now though.

I agree, FFXIII has most of their focus right now, and they only just released DQIX on the DS; they should start hawking for the Wii as we get closer to DQX.
