I always find it funny how we don't think about pokemon when it comes to jrpg discussion. Pokemon has been the reigning champ for generations.
Very impressive first day sales for Dragon quest. Could be over 3 million first week if Sunday is included. Could be one of the best selling Dragon Quest games.
95% of gamers don't know they are noobs, the 5% who do won't be noobs for long

Yes Pokemon is HUGE!
DQIX.. Well that's the biggest video game launch in Japan ever right there.

Fixed. People don't buy games because of fanbases. No, the availability of people to buy it didn't matter, because there are still far more DS's sold there than the lifetime sales are likely to be (note I wrote "likely").
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs
Well, it's confirmed. DQIX just flopped. Look at the numbers: with 105m DS owners, and not even 3m sales, less than 3% of DS owners bought this title. Put another way, 97% of DS owners REJECTED this title. Anywhere else, a 97% rejection rate would be considered a failure, but Square and Nintendo are trying to put a brave face on and spin this as a success, despite all evidence that, once again, third party games don't sell on Nintendo platforms.

you do realize that DQIX only went on sale in Japan, right?
in that case, only ~ 89% of DS owners IN JAPAN rejeccted this title on day 1, if that's what you trying to say
it's not as bad as you think, Mr. Sarcastic
It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo
