I like the 4th gen. I had a lot of fun with those games. Sure, lots of them are ugly. It's still a very solid game.
Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

What I've noticed commonly with the development of pokemon. Is that each game is not trying to improve upon it's predecessors significantly. Instead, they are trying to reintroduce pokemon to a new generation of children. Since pokemon is clearly marketed towards children. It's only understandable that they continue the cycle, as some children grow up on red/blue. They'll look negatively upon the newer versions because it's not what they grew up on. At the same time, children growing up on diamond and pearl will one day likely look down upon the 5th, 6th, and 7th generation of pokemon. Because it's not the same as what they've grown up with.
The way I see it is similar to cartoons. I grew up on bugs bunny, and find bugs bunny to be amazing. I find spongebob to be revolting. But children of this day and age love spongebob and will one day find the next cartoon figure to entertain the next wave of children to be revolting.
Just how I see it.
Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

Maybe I'm just weird. I love the original Looney Tunes but I can watch Baby Looney Tunes with no problem. I also love Chowder, Flapjack, and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
Pixel Art can be fun.
I've never had much of an interest in the 3rd generation myself, mostly because i was playing PSO for GameCube at the time, and had precious time for anything else but the gaming essentials, like Mario Kart. Anyway, i've always found the 3rd generation to be the most nonsensical, and i think that the 4th equals the 2nd in terms of excellence, but the first is still predominant.
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
in terms of Pokemon: 3rd, 1st, 4th, and 2nd
in terms of gameplay/features: 2nd, 1st, 4th, then 3rd for me
