Oh jeez I had no idea Super Mario Galaxy 2 did that badly.
Edit: Wii Sports Resort will not fail. It has the words "Wii" and "Sports" in the title, which happen to be the two words in the title of the game that is currently the "best selling" game of all time.

One of the best post I have ever seen. Definitly absolutly GREAT !!

No, I'm saying that longtime fans of videogames will buy sequels in series they enjoy; however, we don't really know the buying habits of these people that don't read videogame websites every day that Nintendo tried to attract with their blue ocean strategy. And, we don't know if they would be informed enough about games to know if they would be interested in buying new games in those series. We don't have any US sales data for how Wii Sports Resort will do yet, but judging by the Japanese data, it had a pretty good first week but certainly not what you would consider to be outstanding numbers for the sequel to the best-selling* game of all time.

Good point. I bet Galaxy 1 did well because of having UR MR GAY hidden in the title.
UR MR GAY 2 just doesn't have the same ring to it, does it? That means there is another MR GAY. Does that mean MR GAY 2 is a bottom or a top?
This is all very disturbing and probably why Galaxy 2 hasn't done as well...
If similar situations in Wii Sports Resort 2 that I don't know about, then it could be in trouble.

Not really because the failure of Wii to get PS2 or DS sales numbers could be directly tied to blue ocean gamers not feeling that it is necessary for them to buy more than one version of a game like Wii Sports or Wii Fit that they might feel they already own. |
So basically you were trolling by posting something horribly off topic and hoping you could rub how ontopic you were in the faces of anyone stupid enough to mention it. Neatly done.

Lol. Funny and true. What about all the soccer moms though? Are they becoming hardcore too? |
My family, co-workers, and friends are still into the Wii...and they aren't willing to spend a lot more money (HD consoles and their $60 games) on video games. They are still hyping Professor Layton, Animal Crossing, Endless Ocean, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Pokemon, Wii Fit, Wii Sports (Resort) and such, so it isn't dying. The Game Stop near me (including Toys R Us) are selling more Wii systems and DS units than the other consoles. Not to brag, but I don't hear ANYTHING out of them for Xbox 360 (unless it is the female co-workers talking about their husband or boyfriend), let alone the PS3.

Of course Toys R US and main stores are mainly selling Wii games, because families and children are the main purchasers of the Wii's games. This is why we're starting to see a lot of PS3 and 360 sales at gamestop, Toys 'R Us and best buy over where I live.

No, I wasn't trolling because I was pretty much in agreement with the op's assessment. Just clarifying that how Wii Sports Resort actually does is a big test and possible indicator of future Wii success.
Everytime, someone brings up an idea that some folks are uncomfortable with they try to get rid of it by saying, "I'm gonna go tell the mods, you're trolling."

Because someone, somewhere deided long ago that this kind of thread is funny. For reasons beyond my comprehension.
