no, the 4 regions (us, japan, europe, and "others") are not releasing at the same time, unlike halo 3. I believe guitar hero 3 could pass halo 3 (in revenue not sales) opening week.

I could see JL's prediction coming true if Supply of Wii Fit is enough, I don't believe it will be, but if it is I could see it selling around 2-3 million first week



 

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

My predictions about WiiFit.

1. Wont come near Halo 3 numbers.
2. Wont bring anything to gaming.
3. Will sell very well. Not to gamers though.
4. Nintendo fans will celebrate it but wont play it.
5. Reviews will be meh.
6. People who buy a Wii for it will buy few other games over the years.

 Why won't it pass Halo 3 if you say it will sell well to nongamers, as nongamers represent a much larger market?

Not bringing anything to gaming is false as well as bringing in new people into gaming is something, and as we've seen "nongames" continue to sell well meaning people are buying them

i agree that "Wii Fit" will rock sales!!! (even my mother wants to buy it!)

even if gamers are not interested....everyone know that it will be a massive release (like Wii Sports!! )

Its going to sell. It will be promoted in all women's mags and Oprah. Mark my words. It will be HUGE. I just find it funny to be dodging balls flying at your chin. Wish I could mod that game. hahaha.

It wont bring anything to gaming even though some non-gamers may purchase a Wii for WiiFit just like some people may have purchased a PS3 because it was the cheapest Blu-Ray player. See my 6th prediction.

 And that will expand the market, since many of those people will buy other stuff for the Wii, espcrially if Nintendo releases other Wii Fit games, like an expanded Yoga or exercize games

Doesnt add anything to gaming. Just makes the Wii and exersize device. I believe that Japan and SMG shows proof already of what were talking about. The Wii appealed to different than normal gamers. And although the Wii ecosystem was far healthier than GCN at the time of SMS release and SMG got far better reviews it has sold less. Why? Well because many of the people that bought a Wii are clueless to Mario and couldnt care less about the Mario franchise. 

You will see this even moreso with WiiFit. Some 40 year old woman who purchases a Wii and WiiFit to drop a few pounds doesnt all of a sudden also start purchasing additional Video Games.
