Lol notice how the fail article fails to mention how many of those XBL accounts are gold? Likely because it's not a number to brag about. PSN bigger and better then XBL confirmed.

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/33338/56-of-Xbox-Live-members-pay-Gold-subscription

=> 11.2 million gold members.

=> $575.000.000 into Microsoft's pockets this year ONLY.

well to be honest it makes sense that they would download more stuff because after all they pay to able to download anything...

You don't have to pay to download stuff on the 360.

No it doesn't make sense.

You can download anything with a silver account

According to the figures published by Sony itself, it has 24 million registered accounts on the PlayStation Network as of E3 2009. That’s about a million more than actual consoles sold at the time – enabled by the fact that single consoles often have multiple accounts - which is a damn fair result all things considered. By comparison the Xbox 360 lays claim to 20 million active - an important word selection there by Microsoft - Xbox Live users, two-thirds of its 30 million install base: still a very respectable result.

Active is a key word. According to the E3 figures reported by the two companies, Sony gamers have downloaded 485 million bits of content, or roughly 20 pieces per user during its lifetime. By contrast Xbox 360 gamers have downloaded 1 billion bits of content, which equates to 50 individual bits of DLC per user. That’s a massive difference.

Perhaps even more painful for Sony is the fact that only 6 million of their 24 million registered PSN users, or 25%, have downloaded Home. That is downloaded, not necessarily using. This is a completely free experience available to anyone and it’s worrying fact that the vast majority of PlayStation Network users couldn’t be stuffed even checking it out, let alone actively participating. In its current form, it is clear that the PSN just isn’t working as well as it could be. So what’s wrong?

It's an interesting read. It also talks about that fee Sony is charging to publishers for downloads and how it's affecting PSN's content.

Can't figure how the "actually, the 30 million PSP owners can also make PSN accounts" is somehow a point in PSN's favor...  That means that there are fewer than half as many PSN accounts as there are consoles out there, and fewer than 10 million bits per user.

That said, however...  can't PC users access live through the "live for windows" thing?

This whole thing is pointless, other than the confirmation that Home is a f*cking waste of space.  I DL'ed it and walked around once or twice...  I'd rather walk around the mall in Saints Row 2, where at least I can shoot people.

and if it is free i presume you still pay for the actual content

Just because XBL is doing better doesn't mean that the PSN is doing poorly. Mind you, given that Sony's online service is free, I would be extremely surprised if it were better than Microsoft's pay service.

The only teeth strong enough to eat other teeth.

Personally, I can't get my credit card to work for PSN. I have inputted everything correctly, it even test charged my card successfully but the service comes back telling me my information is wrong.

I mean, I would gladly download some things for my PSP but its like sony is trying to stop me from using my money. I know I can get prepaid cards but I haven't seen them anywhere except online and the denominations are screwed up, 20 or 50 dollars? That's the only choices?

With Live it works flawlessly and hense I've spent a lot more money there.
