Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Anyone else significantly less interested in TMNT: Smash-Up now?

yeah, i wanted a real TMNT with its own version of Subspace Emissary if possible but now it looks to me like they think turtles can't sell on their own and try to attract different audience - somethin simillar to Crackdown/Halo3 beta situation. then again Crackdown ended up as a friggin awesome game so there's hope for turtles as well.

it can be good and it can be bad for the final product - everything depends on the way they will handle non-TMNT characters in the game.

Particularly since the Rabbid announcement. I don't want rabbids - I want TMNT-characters. Sure, we haven't seen all characters yet, but them throwing in Ubisoft mascots instead of actual TMNT-characters sure isn't a good sign. I'm having a hard time being excited at all for this game so far, which is really sad since it could be great. I think Ubisoft have dropped the ball on this one, and I don't think we're going to see anything really interesting about this game, and it'll end up with lukewarm reviews and mediocre sales. I can't say for sure of course, but that's just the feeling I'm getting so far.

We knew this before the Rabbids were announced.  The only hope this game has is by billing itself as a SSB-clone better than SSBB and using SSBB's fame to catapult its own.  To do that it would need to actually appear better than SSBB which so far it hasn't done.

Aside from that, I'd like to remind people that the original SSB had 12 characters.  SSBB contains 36.  If we support TMNT: Smash-Up today then the TMNT: Knock-Up of tomorrow may be quite excellent indeed.

Ultimately it's all about the gameplay and online. However I don't really care about TMNT so to me, the more Ubisoft characters the better.

Have you paid much attention to the Turtles in the past quarter century?  Usagi is owned by Stan Sakai, and is set in an entirely

different universe that just happens to have plot decive portals to it. The Turtles have teamed-up with Flaming Carrot, Savage Dragon, Cerebus,

and apparently soon they are even going to team-up with themselves. (Old Cartoon and New according to hints at their website.) It is completely

keeping with Ninja Turtle tradition to have some guest stars in the game made by other guys. It really is. Arguing that the Turtle-verse is somehow tainted by working with other liscenses is not knowing your Turtle history.

Also, I doubt every Turtle Fan is going to have all their favorites in the roster no matter what. Each incarnation of the Turtles has had different companies work on it. And these companies own the rights to some of the characters in the various incarnations. Beebop and Rocksteady are prime examples. I would love to have a kick-ass roster with all the greats, but it's not gonna happen. Utron shredder is not likely to fight Krang. The mutanimals, Venus, Tokka, Razhar, Usagi, and amany of the other characters from Turtle lore are simply never going to be in the same place at once.  Give me a line-up with decent characters from the Turtles and I will be happy. A few easter egg characters is beside the point. Did you moan so loadly when a Halo character appeared in DOA 4? IT is the same deal. Liscenses alinged with the stars and the Turtles had a sidekick from whatever company they were working with.

This is still a Turtles game foremost with a easter egg cameo. Give me a game that plays well and a top 20 selection of the Turtles best allies and villians and I won't compain.

You're totally missing the point. I've never said it's tainted by doing crossovers or anything of the sort - I'm saying they're putting rabbids in before showing us a competent TMNT roster. So far we've got, what, the four turtles, April, Casey Jones and Shredder? Yeah, fucking fantastic.

Everyone wants to see a good TMNT game, and if all they have to show us are some random rabbids, the whole things gets shadowed with doubt.

I have mixed feelings for this game after the Rabbids were announced. I just hope it doesn't damage the games reputation!

Leonardo..................FTW

What's wrong with you people? They are giving you the ability to have more choice... which is generally what people want from their games. People complain about lack of choice, and then when there is more to choose from, they complain about that too! Shit...

Just kiss the tip.

They are giving us the wrong choices. If you buy a Superman comic book, would you like it to be about The Smurfs?

I think alot of ppl are gonna end up looking like fools over something silly....but why is there 2 rabbids????

The rabbids didn't really throw me off, it never just appealed to me. I'll stick with my Smash Bros.
