Forums - Microsoft Discussion - It's Time to Settle it Once and For All! Tales of Vesperia or Lost Odyssey?

I´ve played LO and finished up SO:TLH and I consider the latter more enjoyable. Yes, LO has the better story (not that great to begin with) but it´s gameplay gets so boring. On the contrary SO is always fun and features some very funny scenes . I like both action and turn-based RPGs btw.

That anime or more mature looking character/story doesn´t apply to me. P3: FES and P4 are by far my favorite RPGs in the last few years, yet they feature anime-like characters, deep turn-based combat and the best story by far.

If you care about gameplay, the main point of games, Vesperia is the better game.

Hey, not everyone prefer action RPGs.

You're right. Some people prefer RPGs with no action, and for that, I understand.

I like turn based battles more too, but we're talking about a combat system that's beaten by decade old games.

No, Tales is an action RPG whereas LO is a turn based. You didn't need to say that it has no action, because it does.

What decade old has a much better battle system? (stressing the much better)

It depend which one u prefer, A-RPGs or old school turn-based RPGs? Also, do you want more mature or milder story? Do you like or dislike anime drawstyle?

I know, I was being snarky. You must really think I'm an idiot if you took me that literally.

And why does the battle system have to be "much" better? I know that Lost Odyssey has a basic battle system that's beaten by older games, and I'm sure there are bigger RPG fans than me that could go on and on. I'll just start by saying that Chrono Trigger had a better battle system 13 years before Lost Odyssey. Combo attacks were a lot more fun and engaging than pressing the ring at the right time (especially since it becomes insigificant after you get to a certain level). Lost Odyssey doesn't do anything that hasn't been done by RPGs on the original Playstation. Add in the battle systems of games like Final Fantasy X-2, and I'm simply not impressed.

I dunno, I liked the ring system and skill links. I thought it was good.

Of course, I agree with you on FFX-2. It has the best battle system of any RPG I've played through.

Obiv it's Lost Odyssey, not saying tales of vesperia is a bad game or anything i just liked kaim better than lame Ass Yuri,I enjoyed Lost odyssey more.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the flying f*ck. Yuri is FAR from lame. Yuri is the defintion of BADASS.

I have seen gameplay of both and Vesperia seems to be the better one, Although I would get both of them since I like both SRPGs and Action RPGs (after all I have played TOA and I like games like Disgaea and Persona so it probably wouldn't hurt to try them both out).

You should have setup a vote on here with a bar graph. To me both games are equal in greatness I will have to flip a coin to decide this one. My favorite JRPG so far this gen however is Star Ocean 4:TLH but ToV and LO fall right under it followed by The Last Remnant and Blue Dragon.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

i like both of these games for different reasons but they both also have flaws for different reasons. Tales had an awesome gameplay style thats addicting and grows on you. Its story was good but not perfect. The story does kinda fall downhill near the end of the game which scored a bit of demerits in my book. As for Lost Odyssey, its story is just simply amazing one of the best ive seen this gen. However its gameplay is kinda old school and dosent show anything revolutionary so to say. So i guess it just comes down to opinion really u either like the new ARPG style or an old school turn based style.

But really both these games are amazing cant we just like em both???
