"Obviously a defunct attempt at VR. Most of the companies that tried were small, and are now out of business"

I had such high hopes for this thing back in the day. Too bad it turned into dogshit!!

A true gaming company such as Nintendo needs to give it the push it needs.

The real puzzle is whether we would have had motion controls at all if Nintendo didn't risk it. Maybe we never would of had them and that is depressing.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

That wasn't true VR. First off, it was stationary.

ot, i think we need to see where 3d Tv's go in the 4 yrs. We might not actually need goggles. Maybe Natal, or the next gen. version, can do this.

I just remember the VR in amusement park arcades over 15 years ago, and the immersion was spectacular. We can't improve upon that in 15 years?

Didnt u read what i said? If Motion Controls were not implemented by Nintendo they wouldn't have existed today and prob. not ever. Only a company like Nintendo, not Sony or MS, would have taken the industry in this new direction, and with so much certainty.

VR is the same thing. MS and Sony are LESS LIKELY to really risk taking a punt on this.

I don't think we're going to see a helmet within the next upcoming years. Rather, we'll see people slowly adopting 3D gaming more and more as Motion control becomes standard and 3d TVs per say become more commonplace. The biggest concern I have with a VR helmet is that it sounds like it would be exceedingly expensive, not to mention that it's exclusively a single player experience. It sounds difficult for other people to join in on the fun without having their own helmets. Which would just up costs together.

If a controller costs roughly $39.99, imagine what a helmet would cost.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

Yes, I read what you said. I just see VR to be much easier to implement now that Nintendo has brought motion control to the market. If you have ever been in a VR helmet, you would see it to be quite amazing.

If you could buy a helmet for $100.00, would you buy it?
