This list is retarded.. Make a viable chart that is not so DAMN skewed. Anybody who accepts this is lacking intellegence

You spelled intelligence incorrectly.

Well the thread title is inaccurate since it ignores a good 18 months.

Are the games ignored not relevant or popular anymore?

I can't edit the title, but it is a valid point.  I believe the dataset is well defined in the topic's body.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

What's the reason for using only titles released since 2008?

He said he was getting a recent look at the market for the future. What's happening lately rather than what happened over a year ago. I believe that's what he's going for.

L4D is only "HD" exclusive on PC.

PC doesn't count right?

I appreciate the concern regarding to omission of 2007 and 2006 data. My reasons for doing this were stated in my previous post. It's very difficult to compare these consoles because the 360 released 12 - 18 months before the PS3. The 360's data in 2006-2007 is very impressive, and I don't want to discount it by starting at 2008.

Some responses:
Lost Odessey is at 78 on metacritic.
Halo 3 will break 10 million soon, but it released in 2007.
I'll take a look at changing the Metacritic to 75 and post if it changes significantly.

Note,
360 exclusives(80+ metacritic in 2007): 19,790,000 Units
PS3 exclusives(80+ metacritic in 2007): 8,440,000 Units

The main issue I have is that certain 360 titles sold most of their copies in 2008 or later (Halo, Mass effect, etc). Halo in fact still appears on the World wide top charts. Leaving these out makes the chart feel out of whack. Still the information is useful. Especially in comparing GoW2 to resistence 2 / killzone 2. Left 4 dead numbers are lower than the other main line shooters on the 360 (PC numbers?). Valkyria's attach rate also feels low for its Metacritic rating.

Good info, but it's hard to compare effectively if you're leaving out certain, extremely well selling exclusives that totally change the landscape of the results. But, you set your criteria and those are the results so it is what it is.

I would say this is accurate, except the timeframe is 18 months.  I just thought it was interesting when you compared sales of the 360 exclusives with the PS3 over that timeframe.  I am not trying to say one console is better than the other, I actually think they are quite similar.  The 360 has some bigger exclusives with Gears and Halo, and the PS3 seems to sell better across genres (platforming, action/adventure, casual, etc.)

Obviously this comparison has some huge holes in it.  I freely acknowledge that excluding 2007 severly hurts the 360.  Other problems include bundling , some titles haven't released in all regions(Yakuza 3), 360's larger install base hurts it's attach rate, etc.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

Oh dear.... and like 80% of HD games on consoles aren't "HD" then....
