Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why GBA SP remains better than any of the DSs.

But the screen on the DS'es look much better than the GBA SP screen.

I've primarily been playing my GBA games on my DS Lite, but when I went to try it out on my GBA SP I was surprised at how bad the same games looked on it. The SP screen is still better than the original GBA screen though, which I have as well.

pfft.

N gage wins.

SP - 2.9 inches
DS/DSL - 3 inches
DSi - 3.25 inches.

So what are you talking about? If you play a GBA game on the DS you will also notice that the outer pixles that make up the remaining .1 inch will be black. SP has the smaller screen.

The screen is a lot better on DSes. The backlight on the GBA SP really fucks with the colours on it.

The DS is better than any iteration of the GBA. Why? Because it can play DS AND GBA games.

Also, your ancedotes are terrible.

GBA SP is better because it has less fragile L and R buttons.  Also the DSi can't play GBA games and the DS/DSL/DSi can't play Gameboy games like the GBA SP.

The buttons aren't fragile. Yours just have dust under them. Lift and blow, and they work like new. :P

The DSi screen is LARGER than the SP screen, by a significant amount. OP doesn't know what he's talking about, and is trolling.

I don't need your console war.

You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

I have a DS (first build), and I personaly think it was at that time a step backward for the screen. Nevertheless, the DSlite's screen is indeed wonderful. On the other hand, the battery of the GBA SP lastens so long and outclasses several time DS's one, you can easily play during long travels without having to find a damn plug.

You do realize that when playing GBA games on the DS there are outer borders because of the increase in screen size right?

Screen Size.  My nephew was up here the other day, and he brought his new DSI with him and the first thing that struck me was that its screens were smaller than the screen on my GBA SP.  I asked him, "Are those screens smaller than the screens on the GBA?"  And he said all DS screens are smaller than Gameboy Advance screens."  So, I think that is a definite step backwards.

As others have pointed out, you should probably do your research before you make a thread...

Also, which of these is better:

  • A BluRay movie playing on a 40" SDTV
  • A BluRay movie playing on a 27" 1080p HDTV

unless your talking about the GB Micro you're wrong

I came in here to argue, and when I saw the OP it just made me reflect on how my Gameboy Micro is my favorite iteration of the GBA. Screen size doesn't matter nearly as much as sharpness and clarity.
