Forums - Gaming Discussion - Girlfriend loves Fable II, what else should I get her? (Any console)

How about Fable 1?

I mean.  Just sayin.

She beat and played Lost Chapters before she even met me. When she found out I had a 360 and Fable II she started dating me.

@ Leo-j ugly graphics would bug her. She likes games to be pretty. Not necessarily technologically advanced, but whether it's 2D or 3D it has to look great.

Uh... you've pretty much got it all covered as far as choice driven fantasy/sci-fi RPG's go...

Maybe inFamous? That's sort of a do anything game and it has a Fable-esque good/evil system. It even has some RPG elements with earning XP and leveling up your powers...

I know you said she doesn't like shooter games.. but what about Metroid? I'm thinking along the lines of 2D like Super Metroid.. but maybe she'd like the 3D ones too.

She's using you for video games?  That's a new one

What about Tales of Vesperia for the 360?  It really is the best traditional-ish JRPG I've played so far this gen, it has really nice and colorful graphics in a pretty standard but well made fantasy world, and the writing and storytelling aren't nearly as bad as a lot of other anime inspired JRPGs I've tried.  The other nice thing about it is that you can play it with 1 to 4 players, so you could play it together.  And the combat system is really fun, better than past 3D games in the series.  (Basically, you both control a character in combat, but only one of you walks around exploring.)

ToV isn't a bad idea. She might like that.

Also she actually just started hanging out with me and playing games with me, then after we had been doing that for a couple months I realized I liked her a lot and I'd probably never find another cute, smart girl who I had so much in common with and enjoyed spending time with so much and asked her out. It's been going great. ^_^

Well if she liked the moral choices in Fable II and she'd enjoy a slightly smaller world, why don't you try getting her Infamous?

Tales of Vesperia is a great title. It's a little long, but she can probably get through it in 35-40. But if she likes to explore and do other things, then she can put near a 100 in it.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

My roommate is similar, but with less gaming experience. She was obsessed with Fable II, and when she finished the game wanted to play another game just like it. I've tried a few games, but nothing really clicked with her the way Fable II did. She didn't like JRPGs or traditional WRPGs. (She really disliked the little bit of Final Fantasy VII that she played.) She somewhat enjoyed Prince of Persia, but she found it repetitive and a bit difficult. She doesn't really understand game development cycles either, and can't understand why it's taking so long to release Fable III.

Honestly, I think Zelda-style action-adventure is your best bet. That would include Beyond Good & Evil; maybe Okami. (Haven't played Okami, but I've heard it's very Zelda-like.)

May be a long shot, but I loved exploring in Dragon Quest VIII.

Overlord or Overlord 2 - same British wit, although not an RPG per se but a Pikmin style strategy RPG. Fun to play together as well.

Star Ocean The Last Hope - although prepare for some cheesiness in dialogue

Maybe Sacred 2? Diablo style RPG on a console (but I cant speak for the quality).

I would agree with the ToV and Oblivion recommendations above as well.
