Forums - General Discussion - who is better The Simpsons or Family guy?

They're both junk now.

However, at its peak, The Simpsons was better than Family Guy ever was or ever will be.

The Simpsons with no contest.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

None of the above:

The Simpsons was unrivalled from seasons 4-10, but if we have to talk competition, the patchy, inconsistent and unfunny Family Guy shouldn't be it. Futurama can hold its own against The Simpsons - and it recently got recommisioned for a full new series airing next year.

wow that is great news.

Right now, Family Guy. I'd rather watch a really bad Family Guy episode than a "good" Simpsons episode.

By the way, if he wanted to know about Futurama, he would have asked for it. Stick to the freakin' topic.

you right they should stick to the topic.

Excluding of course the aforementioned Futurama.

Why?  Futurama and the Simpsons have low brow humor...

they also however have a lot of highbrow humor... and put in jokes that are kinda hidden... but are hidden as such because you need to have studied certain fields in college to understand them.

They hit all levels of humor.

Family guy... not so much.

Family guy was hilarious... but then they brought it back... and it fell apart.  The jokes may have been interchangeable in Family guy... but it used to have at least some plot... now... not so much.

And they seem to be resorting to shock value a bit too much lately.

Simpsons is stale. Family Guy is less stale.

I'll go with Family Guy.

In my opinion, Family Guy >>> Futurama >>> The Simpsons > Most other comedy cartoons >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Southpark.

Between the two, The Simpsons. Hands Down.

You're too young to watch Family Guy!

Hum...

More seriously... the Simpsons rules everything.... but afer 10 seasons, they start to decline and turned more into a stupid show for stupid idiots.

IMO the original humor was too elaborated for the standard un-educated viewers.

I like Futurama too but is suffered from the same problem after a couple of seasons...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

The Simpsons of course.
I just don't get Family Guy. That might be because I'm from Canada...
