Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why can't 360 and PS3 be as reliable as the Wii?

BMaker11 said:
It's already been proven that the fail rate of the PS3 and Wii are less than 1%. 360 is another story, but if you want to argue that the Wii fails .56% of the time, and the PS3 fails .60%, then you are a lost soul

How exactly was it proven?

Wii PS3 fail rates are even last numbers i heard of. 360 is the one x10 of their numbers.

I've sent my Wii in twice for repairs, bought it at launch. My PS3 has yet to bust or have something go wrong with it and it's an 80 gig with BC. Maybe I've just been lucky with my PS3(or maybe because it's not a launch console) or it's because my Wii was a launch console.

My mate and I bought a PS3 respectively at the same time.  His PS3 has been in twice for repairs while i've had no problems with my Wii.

I don't include this story because it proves anything, actually quite the opposite.

We are basing the ps3 fails a lot of anecdotal data, as many have pointed, Ive only heard reports of ps3 being reliable.

High end graphics = more heat = more warping of innards. (What Xbox 360 and PS3 are prone to). I would also like to note that both have hard drives, which could possibly result in more problems.

Nintendo in my opinion also has been the most reliable. I never fear a launch Nintendo product. For example, my N64 launch STILL works, and I continue to play it to this day.

I was plagued with a faulty PS2 last generation with the disc read error problems X_X Something I can never forget, nor forgive. I did not have a problem with Xbox or Gamecube.

That's why I chose an Xbox 360 this generation, though I did wait till the falcon motherboard and 175w power brick. No problems so far *crosses fingers*. No problems with my Wii :)

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

it's a mixed bag, mostly. both wii and ps3 are extremely reliable, but there are still plenty of people who have had problems with each console. i, for one, have never known anyone to have a ps3 die on them, and no one i know (oter than myself) has had to get their wii fixed. on the other hand, all of my xbox-owning friends have experienced RRoD.

You're not the only one. Lol, I put my status on Facebook as "everyone I know with a 360 has had it die on them. I guess I'm next". And then the ONE guy I knew, out of like 10, whose hasn't died on him *yet* (he just got it) dragged me into a argument about how the PS3 was a horrible system for gaming

Well as everyone knows the 360 had its outragious fail-rate not too long ago (and it still is worse than it should be), and the PS3 seems to be having some pretty major problems with fail-rates lately too.

What i'm wondering is why don't MS and Sony try to be more like nintendo with making their consoles so they don't die so often.  Is it that hard to make a reliable console??

On another note i don't think i've ever heard of a wii dying.  Anyone at all ever have their wii die?  just curious.

Discuss.

I don't know anyone (IRL) who has had a Wii or PS3 die. Where are you getting these statements from.

Well this thread for one...and the fact that there have been two threads from two different people, in two weeks, stating that their PS3 died.

I'm not sure I would call that proof, but it is better evidence than I have seen in this thread.
