Forums - Sony Discussion - GTA Chinatown Wars announced for PSP - enhanced GFX and new missions

So what happens if this sells less than the DS version?

I dunno if the PSP userbase would support a top-down, 2D GTA in droves...

Yeah sort of expected this. The DS version sold terribly, for a GTA game.

No it hasn't, its not that far behind the first PSP GTA game and in time will probably overtake it

Is this sarcasm, or you cant see that 5 million+ lead ? :|

He probably meant it was going to take over sales trend of GTA:VCS. Until november GTA:CW would have come closely to 1M, this game still hasn't got it's first holiday sales boost (unlike GTA:VCS that had it's opening month and holiday sales boost at the same time). So overll GTA:CW was going to sell at least 1.2M until year ends, and that's just a little under the sales of GTA:VCS at it's 43-44 week on sale. This scenario wasn't impossible until now. Now it's hard to predict how many DS game sales PSP version is going to drive out, because I don't know how much of certain audience do DS and PSP share, i.e. males 14-24 years old mostly.

The game will sell less than the DS version, it was a timed exclusive after all.

psp's line up is just awesome, so many games announced

What this indicates is that Take Two has realized that the GTA audience isn't really on the DS. However, I fear this won't sell as much as the other GTA games on PSP because it's not 3d and it's the 3D GTA that are popular.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

I think it's absolutely hilarious that this comparison is even being made. Really shows how great the PSP GTAs sold.

I'm wondering about this as well.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

I hope they won't quit the DS...

But...I thought GTA was a "casual" game, and Nintendo had that wrapped up with both their systems
