Forums - Sony Discussion - Nooo! I think my ps3 just died. ;_;

So I get home from work today totally worn out, as before work I spent the day helping my sister move to a new apartment.  So I change, grab some food, and hop on the PSN to chat with people and figure out what in the hell I want to play.  I toss a few messages around, and end up falling alseep while waiting for people to respond.

Four hours later, I woke up to a black screen and a completely lifeless system.  There are literally no lights coming from the thing, and no matter what I do, I can't seem to make it do anything.  I'm assuming the power supply died or something, but tbh, I was zonked out when it happened.  We could've had a major power surge, I don't know.

This freaking sucks.  The brand new copy of Ape Escape 2 that I gnabbed on Ebay a few weeks back is trapped inside the system, and if I can't get it to work, I'll have lost a Demon's Souls in which I'm about to face the final boss, and save files for FFXII and Dark Could 2, in which i'm maybe 10% of the way through each.  Plus I'll lose every ps3 save and many of my ps1/2 saves that I completed on the system (my Ico save, my Shadow of the Colossus 3x completion save, my MGS and GoW saves, etc.).

And the system is over two years old, so no warranty for me!

This friggin' bites.  ;_;

Awe man I feel sorry for you. That sucks good luck on getting it working w/o sending it in.

tried plugging the ps3 into another plug?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Does the powersurge always happen in your home? because if it does that could indeed be the cause I know the powersurge broke my PC once.

Using a different plug did nothing. Right now I'm just letting it sleep unplugged, hoping that in a few minutes it'll suddenly spring to life when I plug it in again.

@prophecy: Not really. I mean, when there are storms around, yeah, but tonight's been pretty quiet. Plus, it's in a surge protector.

Turn it off in the back.. or check if it's already turned off XD

Let it rest for a while then try to plug it in

But pull out all wires of it while you let it rest.

Check out my game about moles ^

Well, you don't have to lose anything, as you can take the HDD out.

As for your disc, if you send the unit back to Sony, they will return it (same thing happened with me and Burnout: Paradise) - my repairs were free, as well, even though it was out of warranty, and I have no idea why - ring 'em up, you might get some kind of deal, or something.

Wouldn't you still have to reformat it when putting it back in the system?

I told you not to fall asleep while making dinner...

I'm sorry for your loss...
