Wow. Time warp, to 2007. And to think I was contemplating writing a thread on how Wii hate is subsiding.

It's not about Wii hate, it's about the whole problem on Nintendo Platform on Hardcore gaming. 3rd parties are just fine for developing their creative and casual trends on Wii but not hardcore titles. Look at the 3rd parties on both DS and Wii, they are just miserable and pathetic except casual titlez. Even the most hardcore and best selling title like GTA can't save Nintendo platform, Nintendo is just fine with Game Party(bottom 10 metacritic game) and Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2009(Read Amazon Review ).

I see you drank the Kool-Aid..and continue to take sips. What exactly is "hardcore gaming"? What exactly is "casual" gaming? It seems to me that both words are adjectives to describe how a game is played, not the actually game itself. I find it funny that people attack the consumer buying habits, if a movie sucks and no one sees it, who's fault is that? If the movie is great and no one sees it who's fault is that? MGM? Lions Gate? Maybe not the best analogy but hey, what can you do?

I don't think "third parties can't sell on Nintendo platforms flies much around here anymore, though I could be wrong. At E9 o9 Nintendo continue to shout Wii Sold the most third party software of any console. They also recently said Wii has sold more software LTD than 360 LTD given its 1yr headstart. If third parties can't sell on Ninty platforms, explain the DS to me. If you know your history you'll note that much of the things being said about the Wii was said about the DS years before. And further history shows the NES was said to be a fad and killing gaming as well. So this is just par for the course. Speaking of Pars have you played Tiger 10? awesome game btw.

Metacritic is pointless. Everytime I heard EA or Ubi bring up Metacritic scores I had to roll my eyes.

Again, this has to be echoed, "third parties can't sell on Wii, Third parties can't sell on Wii" But guess who's whispering this..M$ and Sony. Third Parties are really all they've got, if they leave for Nintendo..game over.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Oh, I agree. Resident Evil 5 flopped on the Wii, Street Fighter IV flopped on the Wii. Oblivian and Fallout 3 flopped on the Wii. Mass Effect flopped on the Wii. GTA IV flopped on the Wii. I'm sure the sales of Bionic Commando Wii will be just as terrible.

It is like these games don't even exist for Wii players. Clearly 3rd parties need to stop developing for the Wii.

the problem is that for you to justify your statments you cant put them directly.

gta (which is a casual game btw ) and very good one.Sold already over 500k units. Its good, its really good.

. So for you to make sense you have to ADD comments like> Given the Ds playerbase, given the name of the brand and so forth. That doesnt matters. The game sold well and it printed money.Thats all that matters. That provess you can you can sell on the console. That proofs you can make money. COD on the DS also proved that. And thats why this is irrelevant to say it should sell like GTA4.No, because its not the heavily advertised huge budget game. Its a good portable game and has such sales, which are great noticing how many times cheaper it was to produce.

Given something like GTA which could sold more than 3-4 mil on its first day, you called that good on the currently second highest platformin the history(more than 100 mil user)? It can't even reach 1 mil after 3 months and maybe even by the end of the year.

Poor PS3 Sales Means Smaller Losses

"Actually, because the number of units sold was not as high as we hoped, the loss was better than our original expectation," Quotes from Sony’s CFO Nobuyuki Oneda.

Omg!!! what a pendej-a.... i can't believe I just read what i think i read. Poor lost soul....

Such a cherry picked article haha. Looks over all the "hardcore" games that have sold well on it but make sure to point out the ones that don't. What I find even funnier, is when a game does poorly on the Wii or DS it is a big deal but when one flops on the PS3 or 360 they just kinda look it over. Even the PSP, which is full of flops on a daily basis, doesn't even get this kind of attention.

It's almost like they are waiting for the Wii to prove something that it has already proven. Hanging on to that last little shred that for some odd reason makes them feel like they are right. I mean I know people hate Malstrom, but it's things like this that make him look like a genius.

Sure, some of these supposed big core Wii games didn't take off. It happens... trust me. But there were a lot of core 360 and PS3 games released in the same time that had piss poor sales as well. Wii may not have a huge fanbase that goes for the non-Nintendo core games as say PS360, but sales have shown the crowd is there and expanding.

Zuc's so much damn truth in this post that I decided to bold the whole damn thing.

Of course.I call it great. 500k is good.No matter what, theres no way to make that a bad number.Even if there were 200 mil ds, that doest makes 500k bad.Is only small if you say "Compared to". But you dont do that, certainly not game makers!Games are supposed to make profit proportional to their costs. Not to the playerbase of the console! The ds market is very different too. You cant compare markets like that.

360 market had fewer games and most of its gamers where focused on the upcoming game for months.360 users also tend to buy and forget.

I will be direct with you with a hard fact. MK for wii or ds didnt sell as much as GTA.I mean GTA sold 3 million in the first week. MKs soand ld 200k in the first week.

Today both mario karts have sold almost twice than GTA.So what do you say about that? Understand ,different markets!

DS owners werent waiting anxiously for the release of GTA, they didnt wait to for 2 years to get it to the store anxiously.No.They will buy GTA when they can even if its in a year from now.

And btw ,posting a PSP list with 1st party and 2nd party games...isnt gonna help your case.It doesnt helps the case that the FF games in total for DS have outsold the psp ones, that DQ games have also sold over a million, that the ds gets more third party support and will probably keep getting it, because you DONT have to sell a million to break even with portable games.Plenty of core third party games get sequels for DS,and thats what matters in the end. Jak and dexter sold 3 milllion ,1st party?woopeedoo, NSBM for ds sold like 20 million.

Just because third party casual games have sold well, doesnt ERASE the million sellers of core 3rd party games. DS market is so huge that it can afford to do that.

You missed my point. 3rd parties are just fine with their creative and casual trends, I just want to say that 3rd parties + hardcore gaming formula just won't work on Nintendo Platforms. What is hardcore gaming? The opposite of Imagine Babyz, some mature titles like GTA/Zelda which include better immersive experience and more complicated gameplay which Imagine Babyz and unresponsive controls' titles like Game Party and Jillian Michaels counldn't provide.

Hardcore 3rd party games do sell. Call of Duty World at war and redsteel

3rd parties would be way better deving on PS360 base anyway.

Its not the "casual" market... and it has an overall higher marketshare.

Well outside the fact that PS360 has higher dev costs...

and doing a port to the other system adds on an additional 10% or so to said costs.
