Forums - Sony Discussion - Activision threatens to "stop supporting" Sony consoles.

I just see a white box.

They will never drop support for blockbuster games like CoD and Guitar Hero because they can reuse development assets and the new iterations are comparably cheaper to make than older ones.

Where they may drop support is newer IP's and smaller games, but like most in this thread I think it was an empty threat and they're just trying to strong-arm sony into doing what they want.

I dare him to stop supporting. Do it dude, do it! I hate talk I'm more of a "actions speak louder than words" type of guy.

So Activision,

You probably shouldn't wish that.  In my opinion if Activision stopped supporting Sony consoles it would likely lead to a complete collapse of the Playstation brand in North America.  Then its two remaining major markets (Japan, Europe) would be a tough sell to some third-parties (especially Western ones with games that have never done particularly well in Japan).  I wouldn't be surprised to see it have a domino effect with other third-parties likely helped along with Microsoft moneyhats and other incentives.

I know some people think Sony could completely support themselves like Nintendo but I think they're deluding themselves.  Sony's HD games are far more expensive to make than Nintendo's and Sony isn't making as much off hardware as Nintendo.  Also unlike Nintendo, Sony's games seem to cater more to the same crowd that Microsoft's does.  It would be hard to imagine they could sustain their consoles with the same level of success as Nintendo did considering the more direct competition.

Because it would be so difficult for Sony to change their business model... ammirite?

the only activision titles i can think of are the likes of cod gh and tony hawks, and mabey a few handful of others.

i dont think they will ever stop supporting sony platforms.

This man is talking aload of shit. PS3 does need a price cut, but what he is saying is just bullshit. So according to him million selling series such as COD and Guitar Hero are just not cutting it in terms of profit on PS3, yeahhhhhh right. This man is probably an Xbot in disguise, fucking pathetic.

Things certainly aren't looking good for Sony,
Activision are one of the best publishers in the industry and has some of the best games out, losing them would be the end for sony, who would want a ps3 with no COD, no Guitar Hero etc? the ps3 already has hardly anything decent out worth playing, this would just be the icing on the cake,

And remember, this threat from Activision could spark more publishers to jump on the band wagon, totally possible, let's hope so lol

Joke post?

if I were Sony I would call him on his bluff. He would be fired the next day if he did it. Seriously think about it.

What do you mean by calling his bluff? Never cutting the PS3 price before 2012?
