Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you think Metroid (Prime) is a hard series?

As you can see in my sig, I am currently playing through Metroid Prime 3. I like the game, just as I liked the two previous installments on the gamecube; I've never played any of the 2D games though.

The thing that bothers me about the game though is the difficulty; every boss could mean the end of the fun for me cause I could be unable to pass it, and I remember passages in the previous games (I've only completed about 20 % of 3 yet, so I don't know about that one) were you had to fight space pirates in every room and were I was always ridiculously low on health.

Now of course those games need to be hard, because it gives you quite a thrill when you are actually scared of the bosses because you have to tackle them about seven times until you have beaten them. The thing is though that I have finished neither of the Gamecube games, and that's not what it's meant to be either.

I am usually quite good at games, but I am more of a platformer/action-adventure/rpg gamer, I think the only fps I own next to Metroid is Time Splitters 2. So I usually think that I am just bad at fps-games and that this is the reason why I think the Prime games are so hard, but what do you think? Would you wish that Other M is a bit more easy? Or do you even think that the Prime games are too easy?

I think so, my first Metroid game was Metroid Prime 3, and I was pretty lost, I didn't really know what to do. Same thing with my first Zelda game though. The more you play the better you get at it.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

They're pretty hard, although imo Corruption was the easiest of the three, mainly because of the controls. I never finished Echoes though, not because it was too hard, just that for some reason I kinda ost interest and never went back. Prime 1 was very hard at times, man that Metroid Prime boss was just brutal.

For the default difficulty settings:

Metroid Prime: No problem, Metroid Prime can be a bitch but once you figure it out, he's not that hard.
Metroid Prime 2: That damn boost ball boss killed me a couple of time and I could never beat the last version of the Ing Emperor (final boss before your last encounter with Dark Samus).
Metroid Prime 3: Very easy.

Signature goes here!

On the lowest difficulty

Metroid Prime: Beat it once.
Metroid Prime 2: Couldn't defeat Dark Samus in the final fight. I will get my revenge if the NPC version arrives in Europe ...
Metroid Prime 3: Beat it. Even tried a higher difficulty setting. But had problems with the Ice Guy ...

Yes, I would say, that Metroid Prime is a hard series.

Prime - Yes, unless you find all of the upgrades along the way by checking a guide. If you just find an average amount of upgrades it's much harder. Omega Pirate and the final boss are very hard even with full health and ammunition.

Prime 2 -Easier than Prime 1; do-able without many items. Boost Guardian, Quadraxis and Emperor Ing present the toughest challenges, but less so than Prime 1.

Prime 3 - Got so disillusioned halfway through that I didn't finish it. So can't tell.

The Golem boss in MP3 in hypermode difficulty has made me stop playing that game altogether. It was hard yes, but doable. Your wrist will fall off.

MP1 on hardest difficulty was ok, but i never beat the final boss. He just keep beating me.

I only played Mp2 through once on normal difficulty so i can't say..

Prime - The final boss was hard, I didn't think the rest was too hard
Prime2 - Don't really remember having any real problems, but I'm thinking the final boss was hard
Prime3 - Played on Veteran, the bosses gave me some trouble, but overall, not too bad.

Now, I died pretty much on every boss in every game, and the final bosses usually gave me problems. However, I would say they are medium-hard games. They sure weren't frustratingly hard games that is for sure. I never wanted to quit because of the difficulty.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
