Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you think Wii Sports would sell as much as did if it wasn't bundled?

I think a more interesting question is: How much would the Wii have sold if Wii Sports wasn't bundled?

Snake here's a better way of having worded your question: "How well do you think Wii Sports would have done if it was not bundled".

I think it would have done >50% of what it has now.

It would be around 30m right now.

^^^ Wii Sports goes for about $20 used.

It's also $20 new - had to get a replacement copy from Nintendo.

I know Nintendo has the scratched disc replacement program, but don't you have to send them something too? So say you bought a Wii with no wii sports at all, can you still get the game?

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

 I was gonna post this.

And the answer to both questions is obviously no(it wouldn't sell as much).

Everything about Wii Sports, from the lack of online to the bundle, was exactly the way it needed to be.

The game (I don't even consider it a game, it's more like a tech demo) is so bad...I mean who would pay 59,99$ for that...

It would sell more as it would be less expensive than 250 USD.

First off, Wii games don't cost $60. They cost $50 max, unless they come with peripherals.

Second, yes, it IS a tech demo. A tech demo that's a lot more fun and better programmed than many of the other casual so-called "games" on the Wii that were just made to try cashing in on the "casual movement".

*note: Malstrom has a good blog about this and the fact that devs are idiots and keep trying to cash in on the wrong thing that the Wii is doing.

I agree with this.

Going by my rough calculations, due to the price drop the game would have sold around 200 million copies!

The game (Yes I consider it a game) is so good that some people paid 279.99$ for it!
