Forums - Gaming Discussion - WHEN did u give up on Nintendo?

I gave up on Nintendo after Mario came to my house and threatened to break my legs if I didn't buy a Wii. I tried reasoning with him, but then he just jumped on my cats, turning them into large coins (which he then pocketed), and spit on my PS3, setting it on fire and destroying it.

While I still play it when Luigi or Donkey Kong come to "check up" on me, I'm just not sure I can trust Nintendo after an incident like that.

This comment is worth reading this stupid thread for alone xD

I LOVE ICELAND!

When hell freezes over

When Microsoft actually develops something original and innovative
When Sony actually makes money from the PS3
When I find something NOT made in China
When I come to vgchartz and don't see at least one stupid and pointless topic

I don't think anyone "gives up" on a brand, they just branch out to find different things. I once was a die hard ATI fan, but over time, I gave NVidia a chance, and find them to deliver a much better, reliable product. I rocked Nike sneakers for ages, and one day I saw some sweet Converses.

You don't "give up" on products, you just explore other options. I've explored them all, from the video game perspective, and I find Nintendo's to prove interesting and refreshing as far as ideas go. I enjoy the beauty of a well-created HD world, and the fast paced network games on the PC.

People who claim to "give up" are just closing their minds to gaming possibilities, and these people are frightening.

You got it right maan I may go back to Nintendo some day. When I was young I liked any game. Now I'm more pick and demand mature themes in most of my games. Times chang so mabey I will oneday enjon Nintendo again. Still people tend to develop brand loyalty I drink coors if I'm drinking crappy beer and not budweiser. Its just what people do, but hey all still pound a bud if it's given tome.

LOL usually if I have to drink crappy beer, I'll switch to hard liquor

I used to be a die hard Nintendo fanboy but noticed their decline during the N64 era. I still waited another 10 years before I knew it was time to switch. They appeal to a younger casual audience. They always have except now they don't even try and hide it.

Don't get me wrong I'm glad i have a Wii for EA Active and some Nintendo gems but I'll never be an only Nintendo man ever again. I'm just too old.

None

I ve never gave up on Nintendo

Why give up on the best developper so far in gaming ???

Mario Galaxy is stellar, DS is a revolution etc

I almost left them in the N64 era. I couldn't stand the extra level of 'kiddy' now that the mascots got some "character". Gameplay made up for it however so i somehow stuck with it. I'll probably never give up as long as ninty doesn't screw up their marios, zeldas, metroids.

This thread don't make sense at all, why ask this when Nintendo is as popular as ever. What about Sega, Sony, they have lost more market share and fans than Nintendo.

I am asking older gamers who stopped playing nintendo at some point why they stopped. Its that simple. or if you still play I asked why. Alot of people move on from nintendo to other systems when they get older, I did and many of my friends did. I don't care how popular nintendo is with young people. Thats the point, I was young played and loved nintendo than moved on as a teenager. A very common occurance. Still I'm not saying nintendo sucks I'm just noticing a trend. Peace!!!

oh? and how old are you exactly? are you sure you are really older than the supposed kids you are referring to? or you are just desprately trying to seperate youself from them?

desperately, what are you talking about. settle down son just having an online conversation, why so uptight?

I already have.  My Wii collects dust, waiting on some decent games.

Thank goodness The Conduit is just around the corner.

Well lets all hope this works out. I always thought the wii's biggest potential in terms of its control system was in first person shooters. Nintendo bringing on new games . Thats what I want to see no matter the genre of the game.

internet is srs biz! really though, I just think your point of view is weird, older gamers either never left Nintendo or picked it back up or they never played Nintendo to start with, how old do you think is older anyways? you can tell by the replys that there are fewer people who don't own Nintendo anything vs the ones that do apparently and we are all not very uh.. young?

I stopped playing as much Nintendo as I usually had during the Gamecube era. I had owned an SNES, N64, GC, GB and GBA, but I found very little when it came to the Gamecube's library, and instead played more Xbox. However, when the Wii was released, I realized I couldn't go a generation without playing Zelda, so I had to buck up and get myself a Wii, which I did and have not regretted one bit.

My Games of 2011:

Super Mario 3D Land
