TheSource do you have any news on preorder sales for Monster Hunter 3. It would be great if it opens big in Japan. It could give the Wii momentum till the end of the year if it opens big.

I believe TheSource had information that presumed MH3 would open to a 500k-600k 1st week total. I'm pretty sure it was 1st week......

But you cant really tell until the week before... anyways seems DQ didnt break the record, maybe it was the internet hype(i know i was)... but 2.3 million is really good, i wonder how well its legs will be

yeah 2.3million in one week is amazing and thats only one region and besides that week one was only 2 days long so basically 2.3million in 2 days = 1.15million in one day....thats amazing..

my predictions were 300k higher for first week for DQIX  but ltd i think my predictions are ok because i can see DQIX selling ltd of atleast 5.0m in japan only because this is a game fans in japan have waited for for over 5 years now so iguess it could sell 5.0million lifetime now we have to see how much hardware it pushes my predictions how 250k and i think its posssible because like i said before fans have been waiting for over 5 years so now when it released they got it and other people who didn't have a ds were waiting for this game and then got a ds when this game launched....

DQIX FW = 2.6 million
DQIX LTD = 5.0 million
DS HW FW = 250k

after DQ week, how's the preorders chart looking for MH3?

TheSource said a while ago that it was 500k-600k, but it should be substantially higher now.

The game releases in about a week, so we don't have much longer to wait to find out.

It looks like 500,000 to 600,000 week one. Preorders should get to 350,000-400,000 and then it will probably do 50% more week one.

The real trick is going to be predicting Wii hardware as there is a bundle. I guess 18k Wii is the new baseline, so 18,000, then you have probably a 10k rise from the game itself, after that the bundle. Probably isn't even worth bundling a game for a limited time if you don't sell 20k, 30k. This bundle also includes a new Wii color - Black....

I'm thinking Wii will jump to 40,000 to 70,000 for the week but its too early to narrow it down much beyond that.

Dragon Quest IX did 2.35m week one, and the red DSi was launched alongside it, DS jumped from 55k to 141k - an 86,000 spike. Monster Hunter 3 should have 1/4 the debut alongside a new color, so maybe a 21k jump would be in order (especially since Monster Hunter G, with 135k or whatever week one accompanied a 5k bump). Then you throw in the bundle of MH3 + Wii...I'd say 50,000 or 55,000 is fairly likely.

The bundle will only boost sales until it runs out. After that, if the Wii sees a sustained boost it will only depend on the game.

Black Wii should have been permanent, now all it will do is perhaps a 1 - 2 weeks sales spike like all bundles did for the PS3.
