My thought is that all those gamers who bought MP3 and CoD WAW for the Wii will be interested in the Conduit. I can't see it selling any less than 1m LTD, unless the game sucks outright.

Personally, I found the ascii facepalm and was looking for an opportunity to use it. It is epic =)

Looks like the Wii has a strong summer line up. I believe they are also planning to release some higher end Wiiware games during the summer. So if you own a Wii, no summer drought unless you are super picky and bought the wrong console. What's on deck for the DS? Surely there must be some good games on the way for it?

But third party games hardcore games new IPs don't sell on Wii!

Seriously, MP3 and WaW are both from large established franchises. The Conduit is a new IP, and is unlikely to be anywhere near as good.

Without creating a circular argument, I'd like to just say how small the Metroid following really is, its one of Nintendo's more niche IPs, and as for WaW, it hadn't previously been on the system before, so then it got popular through word of mouth?

I do understand your point, its not innacurate. It could not be popular due to being new IP, but I think that the buzz might have grabbed most of the Wii owner FPS fans' attention by now.

Only 3rd party "flavor of the month games" (Rockband, Call of Duty, ect) sell well on the Wii. House of the Dead flopped and it was an established franchise....not a very popular one, but a franchise non-the-less.

@JRPG and which console would HOTD have sold better on? It's a light gun game with a record for the most cuss words ever in a game. Not a huge market for those types of games on ANY console.

Metroid may not be a huge series, but it's a series nonetheless. And it's also a Nintendo series- I would say Nintendo fans are the most loyal of all. Old Nintendo franchises tend to sell on Wii.

Call of Duty: World at War. It is, of course, from a now-massive series. CoD3 was on Wii, but that was less than great. I think it was, yes, mostly word of mouth and advertising- it didn't have a great first week, but it's shown some good legs.

And let's not mistake internet buzz for real world sales again. MadWorld, in particular. It topped the VGC Most wanted, and barely cracked 120k first week. The legs haven't been great, either. The Conduit should sell better- it's Teen rated, and in a more popular genre, but I would say 1 million is a reasonable estimate for sales. If it sells 1 million, Sega and High Voltage (and Nintendo) should be very happy. It has potential to reach even 1.5 million, but that isn't likely, by any stretch. I would say No More Heroes sales at worst, Metroid Prime 3 sales at best.

After looking at the release schedule, I can only say "what terrible timing you have"!
