CGI in Prologue? I don't think so.

It's funny. When this GT5 trailer was first shown all the Sony fanboys were like "OMG, it looks better than Forza 3!" and the Microsoft fanboys were all like "No way, that's CGI!".

Then it was proven to be in-game and the Sony fanboys were like "Ha, in your face!" and all the the Microsoft fanboys were like "Forza 3 still looks better!"

lol :P

LOL. I fell off my chair. I for one all along said it was ingame TRAILER of GT5. Trailer being the operative word. Grid's first trailer used in game engine, even had cockpit in the traielr. But the end actual gameplay was significantly worse. It's because scripted trailers like GT5 use heavy added effects. I said all along that people should wait for ACTUAL gameplay in cockpit mode for GT5 before doing what I did with GRID.

Currently F3 beats GT5P, as thats the only gameplay we have of GT on PS3.

Actually what you really said was that parts of it were in engine and parts were cgi.

Actually yes, but thats common knowledge. It's pretty obvious when the quality changes in the graphis from CGI beginning. The first part of the Trailer will be part of the GT5 into when you load up the game. Same way other GT's had CGI at the beginning. Yes I own them so I know.

Still my point is highly valid. People should know by know game engine trailers never mean anyhting for the graphics.

didn't you also try to use grid to proove it looked better than gran turismo ?

Regardless of anything it seems like you just have some sort of vendetta against gran turismo and possibly the ps3 in general.. it looks like all you ever try to do is somehow "proove" .. arguably failing to proove something looks better than it..

Just get a ps3 man :p and gt5 when it comes.

Whoa! Down boy! I didn't say one looked better that the other. I merely stated we should wait till we get screenshots of both games before saying one's graphics are better than another's. Also, I did not notice that those were Prologue shots. Here's what it really boils down to, will anybody except hard core fanboys really notice any huge differance in graphics quality. I highly doubt it. Rather, they will enjoy playing the game that works on the console(s) they own. You can't really compair the games if you can't play them both...without your goggles on.

Sorry, only the first line was aimed at you. The rest was just an observation :P

@ stuade

Selnor thinks every racing game on 360 looks better than GT5. First it was PGR4, then it was Shift, now it's Forza 3.

LOL. That PGR4 thread your talking about clearly said in title. Fun thread. I even posted later on that it was all a joke ballsy thread. LOL.

Shift I merely said the interiors were more detailed. LOL.

Man PS3 fans are really worried where the power has gone aren't they.

I'll just quote this from the article and let the bias in the line speak for itself; spot the hyperbole.

"PS3 shadow/shades and lighting detail are either too dark or too light thus ruining the whole gaming experience especially when it come to dark/horror games."

Personally I'd rather have more cars and more tracks than be 5% better graphics-wise, particularly when graphics have reached the level of these games.

I keep hearing this and it's time I point out a few things.

Tracks wise Forza 3 was announced to have over 100 tracks. GT5 I dont know how many tracks it will have.

People harp on about more cars in GT5 ( even if 50 of them will be different types of Skyline. ), but what about the developer spending time on things that matter. Example

Forza 3 not only runs the graphics it has, but also the physics. So does GT5. But what Forza 3 also has to run while playing is the first ever tyre deformation system. Let me explain. The turkish grand prix track in F1 has the infamous Turn 8. This corner is 3 connecting apex's of which pull 5g's for 8 secs on the driver. If this corner is taken on the wrong line it can affect the outside half of the right tyres. They wear quicker than the rest of the cars tyres. This has an affect after awhile when turning left. There will be less grip available and an unbalanced car. This is what Forza 3 has implemented into it's engine. Also different tyres will wear differently and affect handling differently. Simulation? Certainly is.

Then we have HD video editor. Machinima will be big on this. Excellent feature that will set it apart from any racer. Then theres the upgrades to the customization in Forza 2. Customization is not only about paint jobs, but the wealth of minute changes that you can do to shave 0.4 sec off your lap time. Something Forza has always had gallons more of over GT. And the online. The online absolutely destroys Prologues. So PD have a long way to go to match Forza 2 let alone 3.

And for those wondering about where the 1 mill polys may have gone? Remember Turn10 have stated as the cars flip in the game they have had to model the underneath of every car to the same detail as the rest. And also the interiors have got immense detail that you can physically take a screenshot of every nook and cranny in the inside of the car. Even a close up of rear seatbelts for example in a Civic.

So more cars GT5 may have, but less features and sim engines also.

Like I said: PERSONALLY I'd rather have more cars and more tracks. I don't care about editing races I've already run, nor do I care about looking at the underside of a car, and I certainly don't care about being able to have a close-up look at the rear seatbelts on a Honda Civic.

The tyre wear dynamics sounds impressive, but the eking out that extra 0.4 seconds lap time seems like a fairly simple feature to put in place technically, given all the other physics elements that go into these games. And besides what have these got to do with graphics? The article was about graphics and it noted GT5 would have more cars and more tracks; hence I commented on my preference in relation to those 2 elements.

I've got to assume that there is a lot more polish to go on GT5, otherwise it wouldn't be a year before it's due. Still, it seems like a bloody long time in development for GT5 to come out ~6 months after F3 and for them to be largely indistinguishable to everyone other than the uber-fan.

This.

I stopped reading when the blog said that GT5 will have to be polished a lot to look ready for GDC/E3 2010.

It will be out before then. Sony aren't going to wait until next summer or autumn to release it...

The main difference between FORZA3 and GT5 . We have seen many ingame videos for FORZA3 and just a CGI trailer from GT5,so it not easy to choose which one is the best
