Another Take
I have to disagree with Greg's assertion that gamers would be better served if Ghostbusters' aiming system was influenced more by Resident Evil 4. I really like the control setup in this game and think it's much better than the one Capcom used to power its survival-horror Wii port. As you move through the ambient locales, you can very quickly and accurately target both the interactive environments and the ghosts within them. It feels so much more responsive than anything you will ever find mapped to dual-analog sticks. If you like Wii controls in first-person shooters like Medal of Honor Heroes 2 or Metroid Prime 3, you will like the controls in Ghostbusters, too. So go ahead and knock the game up to a solid 8.0 if you fall in line with my point of view.
IGN Ratings for Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Wii)
Rating Description
out of 10 click here for ratings guide
7.5 Presentation
The game feels like a movie at times, the acting is solid, and you can get lost in the cutscenes. Still, Proton Packs not being connected to wands and a girl getting called "he" are rough.
8.0 Graphics
I like the cartoon style, but it could use a bit more detail -- it's fuzzy in areas. Of course, being able to destroy just about everything is pretty cool.
8.0 Sound
Having the voices of the four Ghostbusters is invaluable. Toss in the soundtrack from the film and the sound effects, and I'm sold. The music does repeat a bit too much, though.
7.5 Gameplay
Zapping and trapping with the motion controls is fun, but wrangling can take a bit too long and slow down the game. I don't dig the POV being assigned to the reticle.
7.0 Lasting Appeal
The game should take you between seven and eight hours. After that, there's not a ton to do, but you could double back for scans and art or co-op sessions.

Slightly lower than I thought. Nice score though.

Pixel Art can be fun.

What about the HD versions? Did they get better scores? If so, was it for reasons that didn't boil down to "at least the graphics meet some arbitrary standards"?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Slightly better score than I was expecting. Little disappointed by the game length, but to be expected for this type a game, and with the $40 price instead of the normal $50 game it helps make up for the low replay value. Might be worth getting sooner instead of waiting for a drop in price. (or don't forget the $90 special edition if you are a true ghostbusters collector, rarely see those at over double the normal price).

it's more of an 8, Greg Miller sucks at the Wiimote because he's a PS3 and PSP person.

This is where things get difficult then. Minus those Ghostbusters trimmings, Terminal Reality has crafted a blisteringly energetic, entertaining experience. It might lack variety on a basic level but it’s still engagingly solid, if not out-and-out spectacular. As a Ghostbusters game though, its pitch-perfect authenticity makes this a practically irresistible proposition for anyone old enough to remember shoving a shoe box on their back and chasing the cat around with the Hoover nozzle. So where does that leave us then? Easy – thoroughly non-committal. There’s enough here to entertain newcomers and diehards will likely to love it. Pick your camp and head .5 in either direction. Meanwhile, we’ll sit right in the middle - hey, there’s a Zuul in our fridge and we’re not afraid to use it.

way higher than i thought it would be...might be worth a rent.

So it seems the game got the score for the right reasons. Good.

Game looks fun. Solid score.

Whoops, forgot to mention-- yeah, the Wii version does actually look like a lot of fun and I'm pretty excited to play it.

I spent a little time watching people play it at the office but I've held back from playing it until I can play it at home. The people that played it said they like it so I'm sure I'll be happy, I'll probably play it Tuesday since XBL will be down Tuesday.

It is weird though how be put so much emphasis on the whole wire connecting the proton pack thing though, he even put it in the score comments.
