Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii's abysmal sales may lead The Grinder and Gladiator AD hit other console

Some critics suppose High Voltage Software’s mature titles belong other platforms. A peek at the Wii’s worldwide total sales chart seemingly confirms the thought: Madworld and Call of Duty: World at War remain below High School Musical Sing it! and Link’s Crossbow Training. It’s the reality of the Wii’s base.

While we don’t see The Conduit making the platform jump anytime soon, it’s possible that High Voltage Software could tap other platforms with The Grinder and Gladiator AD. Speaking with us at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2009, High Voltage’s Dave Pellas said his studio has the dedication to bring the two titles to another platform. It’s just a matter of obtaining the cash to do it.

Poor PS3 Sales Means Smaller Losses

"Actually, because the number of units sold was not as high as we hoped, the loss was better than our original expectation," Quotes from Sony’s CFO Nobuyuki Oneda.

Shouldn't we wait to see how Conduit does before we go making these kinds of scenarios? I look forward to seeing how it does in sales and reviews in 2 weeks. Will be interesting regardless of the outcome.

...

i doubt it, no one would care about either one of those games on the HD consoles. Those games should stay on the wii.

That topic title was incredibly confusing. "Wii's abysmal sales," just sound so off, it really sounds like a hardware dexcription. And just because some "casual" games outsell some core ghames, doesn't mena core games have bad sales. Link's Crossbow Training is awesome for the record.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

I think those people are just jealous that the conduit is a wii exclusive and the other two
titles. But On topic. I think we shouldn't judge the games sales before the conduit releases
it Call of duty can be at a million than so can the conduit. If it doesn't than I'll buy 1 milllion
copies for myself!

They've already knew the end's result. Third parties' hardcore games just won't sell on Nintendo Console, especially New IP.

Even something like GTA which got 3 mils in its first day sales can't even reach 1 mil by now on NDS.

well, you've at least done your homework. madworld and world at war are definately being outsold by casual junk. but let's not rush to conclusions yet.... world at war was profitable on the wii i think (if im wrong let me know), and madworld is still selling. it all depends on how well the conduit does.

we certainly can't rule out the possibility, of course.

Madworld is niche - How many black & white games sell hundreds of thousands of copies on HD? As it is, Madworld will make a profit on Wii, something it most surely wouldn't do on HD.

CoDWaW may not sell as well as it's HD breathen but that's partly because it's a gimped version. Of the flip side it doesn't need to as development costs on Wii are much lower.

Irregardless all of HVS games are just too damn generic for survive on HD. How many FPS have flopped already? And many from established FPS developers. On Wii they have a good chance of success (IE profit) because there's no competition.

I'm with Ari_Gold. While High Voltage's games are good, their main draw is that they're one of the few hardcore exclusive developers for the wii. I could see if you moved their games to another platform, they would look rather derivative. They should keep working with the Wii.

Shovelware is better off on the Wii.
