Forums - Gaming Discussion - Halo 3 runs at 640p native XD

OK so I think this is interesting.

No this doesn't change the fact the the game is fun, looks good, and people like it.

But it is funny that for the past two years I have heard an endless string of 'Numbers don't lie' , 'Under 720p is the suck' , and 'HD 4 LIFE SUKUZS'. Now what will probably the be largest selling HD game of all time will require a Barry Bonds asterisk.

Halo 3 brought to you in HD* by Microsoft. Only on the Xbox 360 where HD* graphics will dominate the Wii and are just as good* as the PS3.

*HD graphics are an approximation. Results may vary.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt

For the folks saying "Who cares? Just ignore and play!"

I agree, but just remember that when Wii and PS3 games come out.

To Each Man, Responsibility

I am interested to know why this problem exists, whether it has something to do with the DVD limitations or with the graphical capabilities of the 360 itself.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I agree with you. I don't care about what resolution games for Wii, PS3 or 360 run at as long as they look good and run smooth. In my opinion 1080P is in unnecessary because I certainly don't have a TV that can output that resolution; and because I'd rather see a game in 720P running at 60 frames per second rather than a game at 1080P that runs at 30 frames per second and is choppy. I think 720P looks awesome on most games (of course depends on the developer and how much effort they put in).

In other words, to me this isn't about 360 vs Wii vs PS3...if the game is fun and looks good (I think Halo 3 looks good; not the best of any game ever made, but it sure has its moments with explosions and truly huge environments), who the hell cares what the resolution is. This is just more annoying flame-bait for more pointless fighting. Just play games people.

I find it ammusing this is consider a "problem". Please...choppy frame rates are a problem. Crappy gameplay is a problem...Resolution not 1080P? I don't see that as a problem.

Now the framing of co-op on the same TV (where it puts both views in a widescreen aspect ration and causes black bars on the side...that's kind of a problem.

But this? I just don't get it. Why do people care so much?

WTF? Halo 3 is not 720p?? And it has framerate drops? What is this a joke? "If true" Then why in the Hell did they gave it a near perfect score(9.8/10)?

Because graphics alone do not a good game make...

The 360 upscales the native rez to the setting of your choice Leo. But still, not being native HD?!? I thought it was next gen!

It is. If you are under the notion that HD is next gen, then may I introduce you to the PC? I've been gaming at well beyond 1080i for several years now.

Next gen. Indeed...

the game looks bad but it plays fantastic. i do have an lcd hdtv and MP3 on my wii looks better than halo 3 on my 360 elite with htmi cable. Still i am very pleased with the cameplay and the online exp.

gear of war @ 720p more than 3 mill sold
GRAW 2 @ 1080p less than 1 mil sold
halo 3 @ 640p soon to be the best selling game in this gen.

just a note to the people that say graphics matter. well you dont play graphics you just look at them

Well I'm confused on what this thread was really about. Does it apply to people that have SDTV or HDTV?

If so, I just purchased a 19' LCD 720p HDTV by Insingia (something like that) and Halo 3 looks way better in HDTV then in SDTV. When in HD its a sharper and more staple position.

I don't understand how people would think 640p is what Halo 3 is running. I think this is just flame bait to start a war.
