Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I have my doubts about The Conduit's first sales

There have been many threads about TC mainly because it seems to be one of the very few "hardcore-like" games that are made with more serious efforts on the wii...at least for now, because this year seems different. But I never wanted to get in them because I am not sure if it will  sell like crazy.Mind you, I do believe it will sell well but won't be as much as other FPS games and no is not because what Wii haters and HD fanboys say (you know what and who). I guess the game won't have Mega-duper-sales because it lacks one thing:

Local multiplayer.

Yes the graphics are awesome as well as the online options..but what about when people will gather and play at a friend's house, see this game, want to play it and they won't be able to?

That won't talk good about it.

The first Halo, let's face it, is very generic and a little mediocre. Even the visuals aren't that great, although they are good. Still the game managed to sell A LOT. Even if there were better FPS on PCs. And even if Halo 2 and 3 were released, the first part still sells. I always wondered why and I guess that the answer is simple:

Local Multiplayer.

Halo didn't had online and yet it sold a lot. Who hasn't heard anecdotes about College guys gathering in a bedroom and play Halo all nigth long? or even setting up a lan in their bedrooms?

And now The Conduit which tries to compete with such games and tries to attract the attention of said games...why on earth lacks such important feature? what were High Voltage thinking seriously?

Games like Mario Kart wii, Smash bros brawl, Mario Party, and again, Halo and heck even Red steel, proves that having the option of playing with your friends on a place and have fun together won't ever be surpassed by the great graphics or the online features.

I hope that TC sells well, I think it will, but I can't still imagine why they decided to eliminate such feature. Is just absurd.

Personally, I am not very intersted on that game because of it.

What do you think?

PS: and don't give the retarded argument of "duuude buy a HD console then duuude" because is moronic and doesn't make sense.

Agreed. It could still do ok, but it won't be monumental for that particular reason. Online multiplayer doesn't have the same viral effect local multiplayer has.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Dood all 3 consoles have some great games. There's nothing moronic about anyone recommending any of the systems this gen.

^exactly. I mean, is great is has that option. But FPS are like board games: who wants to play a board game alone?

The reason why the conduit has no local multiplayer is because of the good graphics. The wii can't render two screens with those graphics. That was to taxing for the wii, at this moment probably. This is HV's first generation (Quantum 3) engine where new improvements could no longer be added to the conduit. At some point you just have to go with what you have. Or you end up like Duke Nukem Forever.

It's the same reason why Killzone 2 doesn't has local multiplayer. They beafed up the graphics so much that the PS3 couldn't do splitscreen anymore. Maybe the third installment can.

Oh no no..I mean all those wii haters that give that excuse. Nobody should buy something else because the companies make wrong decisions.

I know, and is cool that they push the graphics. But I don't think that pushing out such a very vital element from it was wise. I hope that The Grinder has Local multiplayer.

I heard that and I can't believe they did it with KZ2.Isn't the PS3 that powerful then?

I think Mario Kart is the only complete multiplayer game we have had. Brawl had crap online, Red Steel was just crap, Wii Sports and Mario & Sonic at the Olympics had no online and now Conduit which has no local multiplayer.

But if you say it, you're missing the point of why someone is looking for FPS on Wii, not on a HD console. Alot of people simply don't like dual analogue controls.

@Stefan

I hate stating this, but actually HV's Quantum 3 is a third generation engine :)
