Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Eurogamer trashes Grand Slam Tennis. 5/10

The core complaint revolves around bad controls:

So the question in my mind, especially given the 75 and 90 scores I've seen other reviewers give this game, is whether this game is actually hard to control, or if the reviewer just sucks at motion controls. We've seen a lot of reviews this generation which boil down to, "I don't know how to operate this white chunk of plastic." WM+ might end up ushering in a whole new wave of such reviews.

Yeah. I hadn't thought of it that way but expect you could be correct. I can imagine people reviewing TW2010 poorly because they're bad at golf and the game makes that reality ever so evident.

Most hands-on I've read with the game involves people hitting a slice off the tee; I dont think it's coincidental that this is the most common mistake of right handed golfers on real courses.

Chances are, if I picked up a tennis game with Wii Motion +, I'd consistantly lob it out of bounds :-/

i just saw that in go nintendo and i was shocked i really had high hopes 4 this game anyway i'll wait 4 ign & gametrailers review which i don't know why it's 2 late

Some people just don't know how to use a Wiimote surprisingly.

For example, my brothers roommate was playing RE4 Wii Edition and sucked terribly. My bro picked it up and was gunning is less than a minute. The kid returned the game because it was too hard.

Same type of people who throw their arm out of its socket instead of a simple wrist flick for a game like Darts in WarioWare Smooth Moves. They are just doing it surprisingly wrong.

If the game is really bad OK, but if it isn't, many previous Eurogamer reviews from this particular "journalist" should be called into question now.

If Pete Sampras can play a tennis game but some stupid reviewer can't, then I rest my case

The problem people have with RE4 and Trauma center is that they're just not accustomed to the IR.  I find people make too grandiose of gestures to try and find the pointer, when really they barely need to move the remote.

The trick is in resting your wrist on your knee or some other surface to stabilize your aim. This is also why players often look terrible in demonstration footage, such as at E3. The consoles are set up at booths with no place to sit and rest your wrist, so your aim just goes to hell.

In quite stark contrast to ONM's 90% then.

Yea, I never play the Wii standing up.
