Forums - Gaming Discussion - Gran Turismo 5 Vs Forza 3 . Battle of the Metacritic

Turn 10 pulled a quality game out of their ass with Forza 3, compared to GT5 Prelude which took the same amount of time to make. Both games will great scores. I don't like Metacritic, because people sabotage votes.

It will be tight, Gran Turismo 5 will prevail in all it's glory though...

Its goina be so close.  i'm goina wager forza 3 will just slightly outdo GT.

Also at all you PS3 fans saying how websites are giving biased reviews to metecritic (which i agree they are) forgot that there are 2 sides to that coin, and the 360 suffers from that problem.

Every game on metacritic has the fanboys that rate oppossing games way to low, and the fanboys that rate it too high.  So in the end it all equals out, and to say otherwise is retarded imo.

Everything in your post made perfect sense untill the bolded part. How exactly does it equal out? It does not equal out at all. Your entire explanation is great. But it doesn't show that it equals out. It shows that it is unreliable and worth nothing.

Actually its extremely simple.  you have on one end, reviewers that rate a game higher than it should be.  And on the other hand reviewers that rate the game lower than it should be.  So using simple math you can come to the conclusion that taking the too high and the too low you would get mostly fair results because the highs and lows would basically cancel each other out.  Now i know there are exceptions and such, but for the most part most reviews on metacritic are actually fair (especially when you take into consideration that 70 is average)

This is where I disagree. How do we know that half of the reviewers gave it too high of a score, while half gave it too low of a score? It ussually does not work out to be that perfect. Metacritic scores give a good "rough" idea of how a game is. It is not accurate at all.  I like the way my friend Blazinhead put it: you can't compare games using metacritic because the scores are to subjective. but you can sure as hell tell that a game is garbage if the metascore is 40. This is somehwat why I think S.T.A.G.E does not like metacritic etiher. Comparing games is unfair, especially if their metascore is under 5 points away from one another. It's only good to get a rough idea.

Well ask yourself this.  Do you find yourself agreeing with the majority of metacritic scores (sans a few unjust scores)?

The metacritic scores mimic what the average person would think of the game, not of what the fanboys or haters think of a game.  If your a fanboy of any said game or genre than you'd be best to skip metacritic and just look at the high score reviews.  If your a hater than of course you would agree with the lowest scores given to the game.

yo_john117 - I find myself agreeing with almost 60 or 70 percent of what I see on metacritic, which is pretty damn good. But MANY, and I mean MANY games that are rated under 90 on meta are AAA games. Like I said, it is unfair to use it as a tool for comparison. If GT5 gets a higher metascore than Forza 3 (especially if its under 5 points away), I'd call it a tie. In certain cases, there is simply too many numbers and fanboy reviews to deal with.

Let me use an example. I love the GT series. GT4 has easily been the best game in the series. More options, better tracks, graphics, physics, absolutle everything.

Gran Turismo Metascore: 96.
Gran Turismo 4 Metascore: 89.

So, Are you guys having a friendly bet or what?

lol I already have two bets on FFXIII blazinhead!!!

But yeh if anyone would like to make a month long Sig bet with me over this I am in!!!!

GT. Even if Forza was a better game (which I doubt, but that's a topic for the other 572 billion threads on the subject), reviewers ADORE Gran Turismo. 96, 93, 95, 89, and now a completely new game on a new console in HD, with WRC and NASCAR, realistic damage, weather, and day/night cycles.

92 at the very least, could be as high as 95.
