Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Anyone else impressed by the Wii visuals at E3?

While watching the live E3 broadcast on IGN I was really impressed with the visuals in some of the games they were showing, specifically the new Resisdent Evil game and the new Metroid game.  Granted, most of the really impressive stuff was cutscenes, but that's how most games show off.  I haven't gone back to watch the trailers stand alone at higher resolution, but my initial impression was "wow", how 'bout yours?

Yah...adjusted for lower resolution , wii games are looking rather nice. Even Punch out looks great...

Mario Galaxy 2 looked a bit better than the first, which is still the best looking Wii game.

I'm not a fan of Team Ninja's art style, though :/

Yep fully agree. Finally devs are building on Wii hardware and actually putting in the time to make it look good. Afterall, we all know Wii is more powerful than last gen, so it should have no issues looking better than any game from ps2/gc/xbox.

look at cursed mountain. That shit is beautiful. http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=75779&page=1

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I don't found thenot by Team Ninja Metroid that impressive. Mario Galaxy 2 impressed, not by its visuals but for the technical achievment on the console.

In my opinion, the best thing about E3 was showing what developers could do if they really got the best out of each console. You had the technical marvel that was Gran Turismo for the PSP, the amazing summons for Golden Sun DS, the hyper-realistic visuals of Forza (360) and Gran Turismo (PS3), and of course the Wii looked beautiful with games like Super Mario Galaxy 2.

i agree, Mario Galaxy 2 looks super, and Metroid is just amazing!

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I was amazed at how Galaxy 2 managed to look even better than its predecessor. I mean, the grass alone looked better than the graphics in most Wii games. :o

Also, Red Steel 2. Wow. Really great. I was impressed. Metroid looked pretty sweet too, though a lot of what was shown was pretty obviously CG.
