Shinji Hashimoto, Square Enix senior vice president, has cast doubt on Sony’s suggestion that Final Fantasy XIV Online will be a PS3 console exclusive.

SCEA CEO Jack Tretton announced yesterday that the title would release next year only on PS3, but Hashimoto said this wasn’t necessarily the case at today’s Square Enix E3 conference.

“Some folks interpreted the announcement as being an exclusive, but we wanted to make sure that the announcement was that the game is coming to the PS3 and PC, and in terms of Microsoft products and all other hardware we are considering all options at this time," he said, according to Gamasutra.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Jack will be right, it will be exclusive in 2010....

Then again, most "exclusives" are only timed exclusives

FFXIV will launch in 2010 in the same year as FFXIII and FF Versus XIII. For some reason I do not see it happening unless it is a FFXIV launch on PS3 in Japan in 2010. Then it could be true. But worldwide launch of FFXIV in 2010 I doubt it. Releasing all three games in a short period would take away much needed sales of the game.
In regards to PS3 console exclusivity of FFXIV it could be a timed exclusive.

I'd hazard a guess that FFXIII will be released this year in 2009 in Japan and as FFs are usually released in Japan before anywhere else, I don't see FFXIV's release in 2010 far fetched at all, in Japan or world wide. Christmas 2009 for 13, Christmas 2010 for 14.

You know with FFXIII's delays FFXIV might have had none so it's ready and waiting for FFXIII to be finished. They have time to iron out kinks and release in a different financial year as FFXIII.

Whoever thinks FF Versus 13 will actually make it for 2010.....needs to do some research.

There's no way FF Versus 13 will make the 2010 release.

I have no doubts it WILL come to xbox 360.....but this may be a PS3 timed exclusive

It will eventually come to the 360...seeing the "S-E having doubts about ff14 exclusivity" alrdy confirmed it.....S-E would do anything right now just to get $$.

At the moment its PS3 console exclusive which is huge, and we all know 1 year old ports hardly make any difference. PS3 this gen will have 3 FF exclusives in Japan and 2 FF WW.
