There is going to have to be a new class of gamers...I mean, when my sister gets a Wii so she can play Wii Fit, that's all she's going to play...and I don't think she's going to play it too often....thats even further down the scale of casual. That is owning a system because you're insecure and you want to be "fit. Again, if I want exercise, I can go exercise. I don't need Wii Fit to help me with that.

 No it wont. Slim models of handhelds matter hugely as you have to carry them around, slim models often also come with a better screen (once again extremely important.)

For consoles on the other hand it is purely aesthetic.

And not just any game either - Sengoku Musou Katana.  13,000 for an opening week is very poor.

Maybe DQ Swords left a bad taste in peoples' mouths, or it is just too soon after the last 'flail your sword' type game.

Or maybe people just want to buy Wii software with the word 'Mario' in the title... 

People still worried about the Wii?

Wow, there's a huge double standard here. If PS3 or XB360 sold 23k units in Japan people would consider that a success, but when Wii sales 23k, it's "failing"? Granted, we know those numbers are incredibly low for Wii, but it's still not a bad number, *especially* in comparison to the next-gen competition. Wii's still winning people.

Also, these incredible PSP slim numbers are not gonna last too much longer guys, so enjoy it while it lasts. Let's not become too detached from reality.

Thats because the Wii has expectations. It has been selling 70k a week and now we see its 20k, we see that its slowly losing its momentum. It doesn't take a rocket science to figure that out.

Also it will go up due to Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Fit and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

It does seem a lot of people are ignoring the fact that the PS3 is about to go below 10k again. How many successful consoles have dipped below 10k multiple times excluding supply constraints?
