Of course they will be making profit off the PSP Go if they are currently doing so on the other models. The R&D costs will have already been borne by the company for the Go! and because it's smaller, lighter and with less power consumption it should at least be as cheap to make as the models they currently produce. Then you take into account that it's launching at $249 and they should be making money.

i think it will flop

Yea, it could. However, it would need to literally mega flop (like sell less than 1M units LTD) to not make them money Imo

id honestly say its 50/50

this gen aint over by a long shot, but neither is this recession

anything can happen

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

No, in the recent quarters they have been making money, and they are not just going to drop out of video gaming as the market is expanding greatly

They lost 300 million dollars last quarter Munkeh. Just for perspective, 99% of all companies in the US would go out of business instantly with a single quarter like that: Sony Gaming has had nearly a dozen like it in the last 5 years. They're luck Sony is so gigantic to begin with.

But otherwise, I agree with you. This isn't Sony's last generation. Sony would need to lose big twice in a row before I'd believe they'd even consider pulling out. And even then, only consider.

... and you can buy a home console named the Wii at the exact same price.

unless this psp flops, as its not as popular as ds' revision.  add to the fact that i dont know a guy with a psp that isnt hacked.

psp's new models are like kicking a dead horse

now i could be wrong on this, but i think its not going to make much difference.  apple and nintendo are taking handheld away from the pirated station portable.

They'll probably make another one, but right now, Sony is the only consolebuilder who is losing money without having planned on it. Nintendo makes lots of money, and Microsoft doesn't care, as long as they kick Sony's ass.
