I personally believe that if sales of the PS3 and PSP dont start to increase soon that this could be Sony's last generation. This Gen has cost them billions of dollars and there just starting to make little money from the sales of software but i don't think enough to justify them making another console. It's whatever is in the best interest of Sony so if there not profitable I don't see them trying again.

So, "Nintendo had bad sales for two generations and now look where they are" But they never lost money they were still profitable the whole time.

No, I think Sony knows they can potentially make more money in the long run with video games then to let themselves be beat out in one generation.

Ten year plan my friend, devs will praies the PS3, if you look at the potential of the system and considering how long the PS 1 and 2 lasted Sony won't have to make a new system anytime soon. The PS3 was build to last. The PS3 will soon have all the functions of the Wii and the Xbox soon (check out the e3 presentation). The PS3will be powerfull enough for devs and they all know by now the value that comes with continued support of the system well into the future.

No way. You can't just drop an empire you spent so long to create. What if Microsoft just dropped the XBOX after last generation and said "Man screw this"...they wouldn't have the 360 now would they. What about Nintendo with the Gamecube...they didn't say "Well...we had a good run" That's business. You gotta spend money to make money...
