Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Gameboy Micro, Good Complement to DSi?

Inevitably, at some point I'm going to get a DSi to replace my big, silver, launch week 2004 DS. Unfortunately, that leaves me in a pickle, as I play GBA games nearly as much as DS games. Hence, I was looking at getting a Gameboy Micro to complement it. While the GBM didn't sell much do to Nintendo's terrible timing with it (released a year after the DS), it still looks like a good system.

Anyway, I was looking for people's experience with the GBM. I know the screen is smaller than the SP or DS, but is it actually noticable? Furthermore, the thing looks so damn small I imagine some people having a hard time holding on to it. Admittedly, I have small, dainty, girly hands, so this isn't really a big deal, heh.

I think the SP would be a better option since you can play all Game Boy games with it and not just GBA games.

GB(C) compatibility isn't too important to me, I have a GBC tucked away somewhere, and there aren't a whole lot of GB(C) games I'd play these days.

I really wish Nintendo would come out with a DS that plays GB/GBC/GBA and DS games though. That would make me very happy.

GB micro is too small for normal human adults.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

Why don't you simply buy DS Lite ?

DS Lite doesn't offer any advantage other than size. DSi does. I don't really ever buy slim versions of stuff if I already have the larger one.

GBM screen is only 2" due to GBM size, but it's very bright, sharp and colourful. GBM is nice device, looks slick (proud owner of GBM Famicom Edition). The main advantage of the system at the same time it's main disadvantage - it's too damn small for my hands.

ill sell u my SP for like 10 bucks i never use it it just sits around collecting dust lol

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

i'm in agreement. ever since i've got the DSi i've brought out the GBMicro for GBA games.

initially i tried using the GBASP but i was so use to DSLite/DSi brightness that i found the SP screen to be too dull. so i switched to GBMicro.

even though the GBMicro screen is tiny, it's so much clearer than the SP that it doesnt even bother me.

if you have smallish hands, it shouldnt be uncomfortable. i'd say i have medium size and the only problem i find with it's size is using the shoulder buttons.

IMO GBMicro is an underrated system.

The Micro is awesome. The screen is noticeably smaller than the SP's, but everything still looks crystal clear and no details are lost. Text stays legible and all that. It's very small, so you might get kinda cramped when playing for prolonged periods of time, like gog85 said, the shoulder buttons can be kinda awkward if you have big hands. But nothing too terrible.

I really love it. Also, it's TINY! Really tiny. Most portable handheld ever. It's sexiness is underrated.
