Forums - Gaming Discussion - EA's answer to UFC 2009 Undisputed

EA just announced that they will start a new EA Sports Series, EA Sports MMA. I think they have taken note of THQ's UFC 2009 success, and decided to create their own version, or maybe they have been planning this since THQ's announcement. Release looks like 2010. What do you guys think? Will this start a whole new trend toward MMA in games?

They are obviously getting this ready for when THQ and UFCs contract is up.

You KNOW EA will do it better too.

Damn right they'll do it better! Just like when they took over the WCW contract from THQ and we went from WCW/NWO Revenge to WCW Mayhem! Oh wait...

I'm pretty amped for this since they're not branded "UFC". This means they're probably going to get a lot of Japanese and Brazilian fighters from the smaller shows, as well as Affliction fighters (Fedor, yay!). Hopefully they go through with it, coz I'm a much bigger fan of smaller MMA shows than the UFC.

That would be pretty awesome. I hope they can bring back K-1 as well...no gloves, no rules. Just raw power.

yeah, because that happened so recently that it's actually relevant.

FAIL.

K-1 uses boxing gloves and has plenty of rules.

BTW - 4 platinum trophies? How the fff..........? What games did you get those in?

Yeah..there's K-1...the televised K-1. Then there's "K-1" the crazy no rules one which I meant. Long story short, there's two K-1 meanings, and we are both right. Second, Dead Space, Uncharted, Midnight Club:LA and Resident Evil 5

It's more relevant than your comment that we KNOW EA will do it better. The only similiar game EA has made this generation is Def Jam Icon and that game was balls or ass, your choice. You let me know though, what has EA done to warrant us knowing they could outperform a very capable Yukes development team fresh off their best game in years?

so what K-1 are you talking about?

Proof? Link me to a youtube match from the K-1 youre talking about....cuz I've been watching kickboxing for over 10 years and never heard of the K-1 you claim takes place.

Are you perhaps talking about bareknuckle Muay Thai fights? Even those are incredibly rare and do not happen anywhere other than unsanctioned underground basements and backyards.
