Forums - Gaming Discussion - Kojima not thrilled with the prospect of MGS:R

If their "interpretation" of his opinion is based solely on that chunk of text, they are clearly overreaching. How convenient that the source is a PS3-focused website...

well the article did finish with

"Speak for yourself, Kojima!  Any Metal Gear is good Metal Gear as far as I'm concerned."

Well of course; they have to at least try to mask their fanboy journalism...

but he didn't have a problem with going on stage at the microsoft conference and telling us to expect great things. I don't get it.

his game essentially so if he did not do this someone might think him and konami are splitting thus taking MGS / ZOE with him and then konami goes byebye

Yes, because we all know how much Konami relies on Zone of the Enders as a franchise. On top of that, how could Konami surivive when Kojima takes those mega blockbusters Policenauts and Snatcher with him also?

you'd be surpised how much konami depends on kojima. id like to see them stay afloat if he decides to leave within the next few years (and yes i honestly believe he is going to)

Well my reply to you was in a more joking manner. In all seriousness, do you have any proof that Kojima himself owns the Metal Gear IP? Usually the IP is owned by the publisher, not the guy working for the publisher that happened to create it. Sakaguchi didn't get to take Final Fantasy with him when he left Square. A hundred other guys that started franchises did not get to keep them when they left their respective publishers either. In rare cases it does happen though. Do you have proof that Kojima is one of these rare cases?

no solid proof but basing it on his personality and the perfectionist that he is,kojima would fight for the rights of his works. he would not just let them take it over without stirring up some media attention.

is he even working on this project?

Nope. We'll see if he's working on Peace Walker tomorrow.

Maybe hes suffering from "Akira Toriyama DBZ syndrom" where he hates his own creation but is forced to keep making it because everybody loves it.

Exactly.

Sounds like Mikami with Resident Evil. I do believe he now does not work for Capcom anymore, throws the occasional hissy fit everytime a new RE gets announced and is forced to watch others continue with his work. Kojima can conjur up all the media attention he wants. If Konami owns the IP and they split with Kojima, no amount of negative media attention is going to get them to give up the IP. You said it yourself, it's their life blood.

yeah kinda like that. but im not so sure on Mikami actual responsibility on RE. did he write it like kojima does with MGS? either way in konami owns the rights they will keep it, but who knows what would happen then.

No, he said BluRay did not give him enough space to full realize what he wanted to do.
