Pokemon games are counted twice cuz nintedo is a gimmick and so are the fans. they can get you to buy a game twice and you don't even know. microsoft doesn't have to do that, and neither does sony. we make one game and get 10 on them so come talk to me when more than mario, and mario related games get 10..... oh, yeah and zelda....lol how many can they make..lol you guys kill me

It's a good idea to read the forum rules before posting.  Blatantly insulting everyone gets you a one way ticket to banville.  There is no place on these forums for insults.

Why is this in the Nintendo discussion? Isn't this a sales or a website discussion?

Hell...we shouldn't even be comparing Pokemon to FFVII:CC...I mean, FF is a much more serious game...sure, it's an rpg, but i think their fan base is much different.
I for one, LOVE FF for it's story, and i just can't stand Pokemon...too childish (in MY opinion) ⌐⌐

Other people who group both games:

Nintendo in sales press releases.

Gamespot http://www.gamespot.com/ds/rpg/pokemondiamond/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary;review

If they don't even warrant separate reviews, how are you going to complain about them not having separate sales?

I didn't say they weren't the same game. I just want to know, why they don't get separate listing on the sales charts because you don't buy them together you buy one or the other. I had the same problem with Diamond/Pearl. They are the same game but some people will go and buy the both of them just to get all of the pokemon, that shouldn't count cuz they're different games. Thank you.

So, it shouldn't be counted because of people who buy multiple versions? Let me give you another example: there are a lot of Halo fanatics who, despite already paying for the legendary edition, bought Halo 3 on eBay when it showed up early. They still got their legendary edition too though. The fact that these people were crazy enough to buy it twice doesn't change the fact that all the money went to Microsoft. Shouldn't each purchase be counted?

Nah it is not the same example like DJmeister.  I can say now that their is maybe a Japanese kid who wants that game so badly but can't pay the full price and found it some days later on ebay and buy it and some days later it is his birthday and his mom/dad give him the same game he bought on ebay. (I think this is more the same example like yours).

Another good reason to combine the games in the sales charts is that you can then see sales data for more relevant games, rather than having 2 versions of the same game take up 2 spots on the chart. Also, what do you mean CC would have been number one? You said yourself they aren't different games. If you really believe that then what kind of "victory" is that for the PSP? Either way a single Pokemon game of two different versions was purchased much more...

Edit: it's not like this is just done with Nintendo games either.  There was a 2 version PS2 game not too long ago that recieved the same treatment.  Special editions and pack-ins aren't counted separately either.  It seems to be that you are just disgruntled that CC:FFVII didn't sell in the amount you wished it too and are "shooting the messenger" so to speak.

@Djmeister: I understand your point but that is how many sites are counting it.
If ioi didn't do this someone else would complaining why he didn't bundled it.

Japanese Chart, 16th Sep 2007

1Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon 2: Time / Darkness Exploration Team594,063
2Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII489,007
3Fate / Tiger Colosseum55,168
4Another Centuries Episode 3: The Final35,729
5Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates23,486

Fate / Tiger colosseum are the exact same deal as Time / Darkness PMD. They are applying this method of counting to every dual version game. How can you claim that's a Nintendo bias?

It seems this has been prettty much resolved, and I'm bored lol.

actually I don't really see why they're not counted separately. It makes sense to, since it just means we get more information. By counting them together, there is less sales information. I'm sure ioi wants to give us as much information as he can (hence counting Wii Sports despite everyone saying he shouldn't).

I assume the reason he counts them together is that some stores simply report "pokemon" rather than reporting the sales of each version

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

Who said it was any different?  That doesn't change the number of games sold, though.

This thread is ridiculous.  Someone's mad because Pokemon sold more...who cares?  I don't care about Pokemon Dungeon games...lots of people buy the games though...so what?  Why is this even a discussion?

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

(Nintendo) fans are gimmick LOL (Watch out for mrstickball he is giving free warnings to everyone who says something (bad) at a nintendo person / someone who is defending the Wii)

Great does that mean Soriku is a gimmick? And will dissapear when they are not interested anymore in Soriku the gimmick?

(Yeah I know those last lines doesn't make sense, sadly though).

Games such as Pokemon releasing in 2 or more version technically is the same game. The different version encourage the trading and only through trading that you can catch 'em all.
People only buy 1 of the 2 versions, not both. Except some collectors and some crazy people that play by themselves on 2 DS's and trade with themselves.

kids these days.

You kids should be thanking ioi for giving the information in the first place. Not whine about it, if he wants he can just stop giving the information and then what will you people do?
