Why even care if they are on the throne not.

As a gamer its actually better they dont win this gen, they will try that much harder if they arent wining.

Yeah, that's why they are getting closer to beating the iPod. Rolly anyone?

Sales and product quality are two differant worlds, my sony mp3 player did not even dent the ipod sales.  But its  a hell of alot better products and that what matetrs to me.

I think one of the things that happened to Sony is that after they became number one and especially with the PS2 they got used to not having to work for anything (third parties basically all came to them). It's like Rocky in Rocky 3 when he basically became out of shape because of unwittingly being in fixed fights and then when a real contender came along and knocked him down he was in complete shock and had no real idea what was going on or how to recover.

Sony is going to have to work harder than they ever have in their company's life if they are to have any hope of ever regaining first place (and I doubt they have any chance this generation, it'll likely require the PS4 and being lean, mean, innovative, and creative in order to do so).

Your Rocky analogy is very amusing! With the next generation I don't think Sony is going to go with the "two PS3's duct-taped together" approach but who knows. Sony has been a a company that technophiles can love and if they turn away from that base a lot of people will be up in arms. But as you say, "lean, mean, innovative and creative", is something they will "likely require."

That only one point in the argument [getting thrid party exclusive games]. There is also another major thing Sony need to mend: their PR.

Stop talking about how powerful the PS3 is and start showing games. Fight fire with fire. Microsoft is marketing the 360 by showing all the games it has and Sony need to step up, stop crying and start fighting. I might be a bit biased towards Nintendo and Sony but that's because I love their first party games. God Of War, SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS, Zelda, Metroid and Mario are the best games I ever ever played. Sony, show some god damn games in an interesting fashion. PLEASE.

It is a hardcore game through and through. You will get your ass kicked by bosses. You will be stumped by the sometimes complex, but never overbearing, exploration.

Great example, anyone else would of got banned for having a thread title like that, DKII threatens to ban people just for breathing.

But yes, PS3 vs 360 is replicating the PSP vs. DS war.

wi have to think at ps3 as an n64...

the REAL problem is:

in n64 nintendo was left alone(with Rare...I admit)

and made mario64 and zelda ocarina of time

has sony in the similar condition the power to re-invent themselves as great developer????

god of war,granturismo...ok

but has sony the strenght to make a revolutionary game like mario 64 or zelda oot????

the problem is not how many exclusives they can buy...

but the games that the internal studios can make.

not only the quality but the importance of these games in this era.

sony without square is dead.

ninntendo survived without square,

the n64 was one of the most innovative and important console in the videogames history, without square support.

if tomorrow square would decide to leave sony(never happening)for microsoft(never happening again)

has sony the strenght to continue without them???

i tthink not.

This whole post sounds just like me. Sounds exactly like something I have said many times MANY times in the past over the past 2 years.

The outcome will be this because of ALKO's words which mirror my long-held sentiments.

The best games of all time couldn't save Nintendo's spot. Will games under that level maintain Sony's? Nintendo survives in drought and is thriving in precipitation. Can Sony's 1st party go it alone like Nintendo's did. I TOO think not.

When I seen the title to this thread, I knew it would be golden. But I have to say, they might not be dumb, but they sure did come to this gen real cocky. I know they figured everyone would buy one just because it was a PS3. If they didn't think that, it would have been cheaper. Period.

Sony's misfortune is the possibly the best thing that could have ever happened to the Xbox 360.

Is it really misfortune if they dug the hole they're in themselves?
