Forums - Gaming Discussion - Difference between japanese and American Games

http://www.gametrailers.com/bonusround.php?ep=11&pt=1

its the bonus round and its rather interesting, they mention how many games are different, why Japanese gamers dont like American games. They also go into how they are worried for ps3, and how brand name really does sell games (Nintendos offical seal)

Its a good watch.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Thanks for the great resource

I don't like Michael Pacther and he doesn't seem to contribute anything useful to the discussion, but it was nice to atleast see the difference in ideology between the two. Where Pachter seemed more arrogant and aggressive in his thinking the other fellow, Nathan Paine , seemed a bit more reserved and easy going. Maybe a parallel between the two markets can be drawn here?

The biggest difference in Japanese games? They use those little squigglies they call characters that make it impossible to figure out what is being said. That's so annoying. j/k :0

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

possibly anti, and your right pachter just sat there as usual and tried to look smart. well with the converstation that went on their, they are not biased towards us, they are just so much smarter our "mindless games" dont appeal to them........

To Each Man, Responsibility

Great find

i agree with the Pink Godzilla guy. Halo's and GTA's aren't exactly remembered for their "story-lines" or "creativity" per se

I think I discovered the meaning of a Freudian slip yesterday.....
I was having dinner with my girlfriend and I wanted to say,
"Could you please pass the butter?"
But instead I said, "You bitch, you managed to ruin my life."

90% of my console game collection is eastern, so you guys know where I stand on this.

(vanguardian1 stares at tons of big-name western games that he finds boring, but would never insult to other people)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

i enjoyed the halo story line

tho i can understand why our plathora of WWII shooters dosent do so good there

Is Mario, Donkey Kong, Nintendogs, or Pokimon know for their "story-lines" or "creativity?"  Isn't it the same thing, over and over and over and over again?

A lot of people enjoy Halo's storyline (I'm not saying I'm one of them).   But you have to admit, even if you're not a Halo lover, the story is more interesting then a fat italian plummer that has to hop on a dragon's head to save the princess... again.
