Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Wii is the only true console this generation

I agree with everything you said.

=p If the Wii is really the only true console this generation then why do you have to post so much on the forums and don't play the only true console much?

Well written and thought out, and for the most part I completely agree, but don't expect anybody who already blindly rejects the Wii to be at all moved by your logic.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

I personally think that the HD consoles are more likely to be the true consoles this gen (although i would not disregard any console) as Gaming has moved on from the 'old days of gaming' and the additions such as patches to games and multiplayer are evolutions of this.

The Wii is the only console that i do not own this gen and that is not going to change (unless KH3 is on the Wii only, and even then it would really be a hard choice). I agree the Wii has taken gaming to new levels but to call it the only 'true console' is just insane!

Oh Rol and your great threads. now im starting to think that this era is a repeat of the 2 and 3rd gen.

I believe, post-crash, the Atari 2600 still sold around 1 million a year.

In regards to affordability, the Neo-Geo is a TRUE game console, just it was WAY overpriced. Same with the 3DO unit.

to me its the console that gets the crappiest third party support + Ports and Remakes.

That's why the hardcore love it so much.

Awesome thread. Good points.. too bad I already knew this. :P

Pixel Art can be fun.

Yeah, that's pretty much the explanation for the current generation.

I'm not sure that Lan kills affordibility. it isn't that expensive and people are more mobile these days, what makes local multiplayer a bit more unlikely.
