Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Gladiator A.D. (New Trailer)

hmmm... could be good - hopefully there is some form of management behind the fights - i want to be the slave owner setting up the fights and then get to fight them.

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

^thats what i was thinking. Controversial, buying slaves.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

This looks like a fighting game. I want an actual gladiator game where you are severly outnumbered and out gunned and you have to think in order to survive. I hope a game like this releases on the consoles

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

I don't get it... It almost looks like a turn based RPG. Very stiff...

Here's a video from my band's last show Check out more (bigger) videos here http://www.youtube.com/user/icemanout

looks much better than the first one... and it kind of remind me Soul Calibur in Roman times...

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Wow, this game actually looks pretty good. I'm impressed so far.

Looks better, but it still looks like a 1 on 1 fighter, not a Gladitorial Roman empire game. Come on admit it. We want the Russel Crow Gladitor game. Without Russel Crow of course.

Though I admit this fictious roman theater game still intruges me. Since this is HVS first fighter I suspect that this will show similiar first time fighter syndrome. Stiff, unresponsive, missed oppertunies, but potential.

Real Roman gladiatorial games mostly were 1 on 1 and formalized, fought - rarely to death - between professional fighters. There were 4 traditional classes of fighters, opposed in couples (reziari vs secutores, mirmilloni vs traci). And the gladius was a very short sword, mostly used in stabs, not chopping arms off your opponent like in Monty Python's "it's only a flesh wound" scene.

But I understand that you're talking of the hollywoodian battle royales with chariots and tigers and emperors fighting in the arena :) That would look cooler, indeed.

The actual gameplay doesn't look very impressive. The two characters are just sitting there hacking away at each other... They don't even block or dodge their attacks...

Eh? I saw several blocks in that video. Furthermore, the interview specifically talked about the importance of good blocking.

And all comments about gameplay or graphics aside, HVS has some bitchin' music lined up for this game. I'll give them that without hesitation.

So the first trailer featured a transparent fighter and this trailer has a non-transparent fighter. It would realy be great if you could choose if your fighter should be transparent or not. I hope HVS makes an option for this.
