Forums - Microsoft Discussion - I'm thinking of giving up on 360 entirely

No problems on my 360's so far but I have fixed a few for people, one is still working and one packed up after about two months, and NO! it won't get you banned if you fix it yourself lol,

And yeah, the 360 did start out very "dodgy" but the problems have almost completely gone now specially in the newer units,

I'd just go onto xbox.com, book it in for repair and let them sort it for you, it won't cost you a penny even if it is over 3 years old, lots of threads about this on the internet, MS would much rather fix your 360 for free so you can get back on live and give them money again on subscriptions, games, dlc etc,

That sucks, maybe you should try and fix it. If it looks simple enough. I've had 3 RRODs myself but the last one was a year ago. Now it's just the occasional disc read error message.... Anyway, good luck.

@people who think 6 RRoDs is impossible

If the launch version of the 360 has a failure rate that is actually as high as 30%, then statistically, 729 people out of every 1 million would experience 6 RRoDs. This is assuming all 6 of the 360s were launch versions.

(Assuming I remember my statistics correctly)

If you have a used Xbox call Microsoft to get it repaired. If they say it's registered under someone else's name say you bought it from a friend or something, worked for a friend of mine. They should change the registry and you can get it repaired on the warranty. If not, then yeah, it's perfectly justifiable to just give up on your 360.

Also, don't be fooled by your 360 coming back to life, it will die again.

Totally agree!

Once a 360 starts giving problems you know it is on it's way to xbox heaven, there are ways to delay it but it won't stop it from happening :(

I got a jasper arcade unit after my falcon elite unit died. I didn't go through Microsoft to repair my elite because I had bought an extended warranty which paid me the original cost of my elite and that failure wouldn't have been covered by M$ anyways. I couldn't be happier now with the jasper unit. Although, if you're tired of your xbox 360 library, it might be a good time to try the PS3 library to get the best of both worlds.

Try online first. And depending on why it came back to life it may very well be perfectly fine.  My kids have moved the 360s around and loosened cables which have caused failures. Simply tightening connections has fixed issues that appeared more severe.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

the reason i will always buy new. you have a used one dude you likely have the not so great chipset version you would have been best off with new it would of had the most current chipset and you would have brand new warranties as well. I am on my 4th one but 2 of mine were disc drive issues not rrod that was only my 1st one. my 3rd system was getting ready to crapout but i sold it to gamestop along with a few game and got a new arcade unit since i wanted one with hdmi and all that. did you at least check to see what year it was manufactured and see if it had been registered before because that might help cover you under warranty.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.
