Well thats the thing, buying used 360 is always a bit of a risk because of the failure rate, my friend got his repaired for 60 pounds without a warranty. Buying new PS3 will be more expensive (plus you say you would get rid of your 360 games), i recon you should just get it fixed or buy an Arcade and keep harddrive, cables etc. etc.

Ah... then most likely it's only covered for a year... sadly man, it might be the end of the road for that 360, you could always try to fix it yourself, and if you get banned then, fuck it, trade it into a game store, they'll see it's working, give you more credit for it then a red ringed 360, and you can get you a PS3.

The reason I brought up E74 is that is the error my friend just got on his elite, it's the third 360 that's died on him, I was at his house when it happened, we were playing some Ninja Blade, the graphics were acting up, so we reset the system and BOOM RRoD and I busted out laughing while he sat there and sighed... he tried to get mad at me for laughing then he admitted to doing it when his other friends 360 RRoD while he was over there. 

The good thing coming from my story is, he bought an arcade to use in the mean time while his elite is sent to MS, when it comes back he's offering to sell me the arcade for 100 dollars, a steal I must say, since it will be basically brand new and I can buy those RPGs I've been wanting.

Repairing it proabably costs $100

My guess anyway.

All in all a joke, I'm not sad to sell the games for ps3 and games, as I've played most of my games to completion, and am not a collector type guy.

i'm also not a sony vs ms guy, I just want to play games.

Do you know the guy that sold you x360 ?

If you gotten it from a friend ask him for a small favour to send warranty request to microsoft it might still be covered by it.

If not maybe try looking for some independent repairer. In Poland we have plenty of points that do out of warranty service for x360 (for those who can't send their x360 to MS for you know what reasons).

Then again with console this old it's probably not worth it in the long run so if warranty trick don't work just ebay it for spare parts and get X360 arcade/ps3.
